This year, the arts festival has prepared a lot of fun and exciting activities just for you and there will be absolutely something for everyone to look out for. Clear all your schedules because on the 28^th of May straight until the 11^th of June 2011, the Arts on Main Festival will be joining everyone to celebrate wonderful works of art and striking talents of local artists and craftsmen in the area. This year, the event will host an art competition dubbed as the ‘Battle of the Brushes’. By bringing your brushes, your creativity and your competitive spirit, you are then entitled to be part of this amazing and exciting brush art competition. For those interested artists, you may register in advance at the South Simcoe Arts Council. Participants of this event will be provided with all the necessary materials needed and will be given 20 minutes to craft the perfect art work. Live music will be playing in the background to accompany the artists and to help bring out their creative imaginations and ideas. Participants who land first and second place in the competition will win prize money.

The arts festival is a great way to improve the artistic abilities of the locals and will help promote art among the young. The event will be open to all and will be running from the 28^st of May until the 11^th of June. Come and join the artistic fun at the Arts on Main Festival.

The Arts on Main is here once again and everyone is super hyped for this year’s event. This magnificent event is an exciting display of talent during the Festival of the Arts. Many artists have the opportunity to brag about and display their work in the front windows of the stores on the main streets of Alliston, Beeton, Cookstown and Tottenham. Artists and art enthusiasts alike should be excited about this year’s event since back this year will be the Battle of The Brushes. Bring your creativeness, your paintbrushes and your competitive nature. Contestants interested in joining the competition must register in advance at the South Simcoe Arts Council. As tradition, the artists will be given a blank piece of canvass on easel in a four-foot square area, a pallet of acrylic paints and 20 whole minutes to paint. Prize money will be rewarded to the 1^st and 2^nd placer. There will also be live musical performances to inspire your creative imagination. After the competition, the pieces will be displayed in a silent auction and the funds raised will be donated to the South Simcoe Arts Council

Of course, this year, the event would also feature other forms of art other than painting. Enjoy a wonderful afternoon of stitching, quilting or any crafting with your friends on the 11^th of June or enjoy the Blue Grass Festival of Tottenham on the 4^th of June. Mr. Christopher Durang will provide light supper followed by a theatre production, Beyond Therapy. It will be an adult comedy presented by the South Simcoe Theatre.

The Alliston Potato Festival has grown and expanded its existence over the years. Today it is a 3 day event taking place not only on Victoria Street but also on 2 baseball fields that convert into the Festival fairground every August. We are known for one of the biggest parades that kick off the potato festival. Over the years, one thing that has remained constant is that the festival is truly a community affair. It has remained, for some of the non-profit organizations, their biggest fund raising event of the year.
