Cougar Spotted Again in Arnprior
Another sighting of a cougar stalking the Arnprior area has been reported by a motorist, this time saying that the big cat was carrying a small dog in its mouth.
Darryl Wall, a resident of Arnprior, Ontario, was at work at a local gas bar at around 1 in the afternoon on the 15th of June, when a resident from Toronto came in and asked if there was a zoo or animal farm in the vicinity.
According to the motorist, he spotted a cougar along County Road 29 near the Madawaska Golf Course. The cougar came out of a ditch on the left side and crossed the road carrying what looked like a small dog.
It’s worth noting that on May 17, Margaret Cairns, a resident of White Lake, saw another cougar on the other side of the highway while she was on her way to work.
Wall recalls that the motorist was sure that he’d just seen a cougar. He recommended to the man to report the sighting to the Ministry of Natural Resources, but he doesn’t know if the motorist followed his advice.
The sighting is by no means surprising. The area near the golf course is home to plenty of wildlife ranging from deer to smaller animals.
