Stanley Cup Playoffs Champion Traces his Roots to Kemptville
For Ann Eager, a resident of North Grenville, last night was all about the NHL playoffs. Her eyes were practically glued to the TV set as she watched her nephew Ben wreak havoc on the ice.
Ben Eager plays for the Chicago Blackhawks, the team that won the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs. Ben, a left winger, was born in Ottawa, but traces his roots to Kemptville
According to Ann, Ben’s family lived in Kemptville for quite some time, and the community’s residents still remember their stay to this day. In fact, Ann has been getting plenty of calls from Kemptville residents who’ve been following the playoffs, as well as folks wanting to congratulate Ben for the win.
Just goes to show how big a sport Hockey is in this country.
Ann is also a die-hard fan of his nephew, keeping track of Ben not just in the playoffs, but throughout his career as a pro. There’s no word from Ben if he’s visiting the town, but his parents are expected to visit from Chicago next week. The family plans on celebrating the momentous occasion.
Ben gets to have the Stanley Cup for one day, and it’s likely that he’s going to bring it to Ottawa.
