Welcome to Manotick Ontario

Bus Diner in Manotick

From the looks of it on the outside, it may seem like a double-decker bus normally seen plying through the busy streets of London. But instead of passenger seats on the inside however, the towering bus houses a grill, black and white tiles, and a counter for dishing out creamy milkshakes. Quite frankly, it looks like a diner straight out of a 40’s movie – only this time it’s right inside a bus.

What are we talking about? Well it’s none other than the Double Decker Diner and Dairy Bar here in Manotick.

Whatever the weather may be, whether it’s pouring or hot, folks passing by the village just can’t seem to stop themselves from grabbing a bite inside the bus. And while dining inside a double-decker bus has its unique appeal (seeing people gape isn’t new for the crew), it’s the food that’s actually getting rave reviews.

Owner Cindy McDonald comments that the growth and reception of her bus diner exceeded her expectations. The white tiled walls of her upstairs diner now display photographs of double-deckers in London, matched with tables, lamps, napkin holders, and salt & pepper shakers.

For this Manotick native, who now looks after 2 daughters, starting a business was always her dream. The food business always piqued her curiosity, and now it looks like her dream came true, albeit with a few twists here and there.

The Double Decker Diner and Dairy Bar may not be your everyday eatery, but it sure has its charm, and assortment of good food to boot.
