Perth Garlic Festival

Do you love garlic? At the Perth Garlic Festival, there is something for everyone! Enjoy a garlic rib cook off, garlic bread tasting, cooking demonstrations or learn to braid garlic. There will be 50+ garlic food and craft vendors, and live concerts throughout the weekend. Come to the Perth Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, 2009 for a festival right out of a garlic-lover’s dream! Art of Being Green – Enjoy a Scenic Drive and a Great Festival!

The Art of Being Green Festival, voted one of Ontario’s top 100 festivals, offers the visitor to Lanark County a fun and unique outing. It is a free three-day event, featuring speakers on environmental living and sustainability, a great line-up of concerts and children’s performances, exhibits by local environmental organisations and vendors, and local food kiosks. Come learn about solar hot water, renewable energy, local and organic food, composting, wetland preservation, endangered species and more… At the green marketplace, you could buy some organic clothes, a healthy water bottle, a portable camping wood-stove, or some natural beauty products.

Art on the Lawn in Perth Ontario

Get your sunglasses, lawn chairs, fishing rods and camera. It’s going to be a lively time.

Stop by 3054 Rideau Ferry Rd. to meet 37 Artists and view their original paintings, pottery, sculpture & more…Art on the Lawn, is presented by Rideau Lakes Artists’ Association and is from 10 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday.

If you’d like a leisurely drive to beautiful Westport July 10, 11 and 12 is Family Fishing Weekend in Ontario (which means Canadians don’t need a license). And where’s the best place in the world to fish? You’ve got it. Westport and all the many Rideau lakes. Go get ‘em!

In Elgin, about 15 minutes away from Westport by car, the town will be hopping with the annual “Elgin Days” on Saturday and Sunday (July 11 and 12). This is a happy family-centred event with a parade, air-castles and climbers for children, yard sales, outdoor music, a horseshoe tournament, a big chicken barbecue and even bowling.

Also in Elgin is a Friday evening “Fun-Run”. You don’t have to be a runner to do this (although seasoned runners love it). All you have to do is to show up and see what you can do. Registration begins at 6 p.m. (July 10) at Rideau District High School.

It’s the good old summertime in Perth once more. We hope to see you!
