The Wednesday Morning Group Clubs at Mc Martin House

14

McMartin House, a National Historic Site owned by the Ontario Heritage Trust, is still home today to the Perth District Senior Craft Fellowship.
Some people play Bridge or Euchre for intellectual stimulation and social interaction.  Others learn crafts with a craft club (for the same reasons).  Still others find the same sorts of satisfaction in a book club.  “There are many different types of book clubs, but they all have the same goal: To read, discuss, and learn from a book”.
McMartin House hosts two different groups, one which meets the first Wednesday Morning of the month from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon, BookClubW1 (directed by Doris Coates) and one that meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30, BookClubW2&4 directed by Ruth Craig.

Share a laugh over a game of bridge, take a hook rug class on Celtic designs or practice your best line dancing moves. These activities and much more are available to seniors at the historical McMartin House.

Doris Coates, Activity Director for BookClubW1, the 1st Wednesday Book Club, reports that this club has been meeting at McMartin House each month from September to June for over fifteen years. Book selections for the coming year are made at our June meeting, when we also select our monthly discussion leader. Our selections are mainly fiction but have included other genres, even poetry. Each month we exchange ideas, thoughts and research on our book selection and the book’s author.

McMartin House Membership is required.  One $20 Annual Membership Fee permits a member to join any number of activities. Most activities have small charges each session to cover supplies, resources, refreshments etc.
