Summer Tips to Keep Your Kids Safe This Summer
Summer is officially in the air! And for kids here in the Town of Perth, this means loads of fun in the outdoors: camping, biking, swimming, and a whole lot more. And yet while summer may be the best season for kids to have fun, it’s a bit of the opposite for parents. As a parent, you’ll have to make sure that you keep an eye on your kids and make sure they stay healthy and safe. With all that moving around in the outdoors, there are bound to be some scratches and bruises you’ll have to fuss over.
First, let’s start with the dangers posed by exposure to the heat of the sun. To safeguard children against sunburn, make sure to apply sunscreen (preferably greater than SPF 15) 15 minutes before exposure to the sun. Don’t be afraid to reapply the lotion every hour or so.
When children are going for a swim, be sure to keep an eye on them. Contrary to popular belief, drowning accidents don’t occur with kids calling for help. It happens suddenly, oftentimes with very little struggle at all.
When kids are going biking on the other hand, helmets are of the utmost importance. Make sure to get a helmet that fits, and one that comes with straps that are comfortable and of the right length.
