Windsor’s First Baby for 2010

For most residents in the City of Windsor, New Year’s Eve was a time spent outside on the streets to witness the fireworks and welcome 2010.

But for Blair Simon and Peter Dragowski, New Year’s was different. Very different.

They just became parents.

24-year-old Blair, a hairdresser from Oshawa, gave birth to a bouncing baby boy at exactly 12:29 in the morning of January 1st, making their little one—who appropriately has a nice patch of brown, sandy hair—Windsor’s first baby for 2010. The health baby weighed in at an amazing nine pounds.

The couple’s doctor gave them the choice of delivering the baby on Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve, forcing the about-to-be parents to make a tough decision. But according to Peter, having your birthday on Christmas would mean that yours would also be second to the holiday, so they opted for December 31st instead, which they thought was a bit more reasonable.

As of Friday, the new parents had not decided on their baby boy’s name – since they chose not to know his sex in advance. They were however, closing in on the name, Taylor.

And as a way of celebrating, staff from the Windsor Regional Hospital gave them a basket full of baby items, and will be featuring a picture of the new family in the hospital’s newsletter.
