Those currently, and those wishing to be Local Flavours members, as food producers, restaurants, citizens and markets of the region, will gather February 12 from 2pm-7pm at the Firehall Theatre in Gananoque to lay out plans for 2011 and beyond. They’ll continue to build capacity, programs and a food identity for the region. Lori Stahlbrand, CBC journalist and founder-president of Local Foods Plus, and Edward Pond, locavore and food photographer, will inspire a roundtable discussion to help guide the direction of Local Flavours for 2011, and beyond.
With a pot luck supper, top notch speakers, a great band, and hearty discussion; it will be an awesome evening! Admission is $5 for adults, free for children; the $5 will go towards Local Flavours membership fees if you choose to register. The meeting event is a great opportunity to renew membership in Local Flavours, or join for the first time – and perhaps to become a Friend of Local Flavours:
This event is hosted by the Frontenac Arch Biosphere – to help our community become more sustainable. From farm to fork, local food is a key ingredient in the well-being of our region’s environment, culture, society and sustainable economy.
Local Flavours is going into year seven, and now has over 100 members. If you are part of the local food picture, you won’t want to miss this event.
