Earth Hour Events in Kingston

It’s time once again to join in on the observation of the global event Earth Hour, but aside from pulling the plug and shutting down the lights in your home, you can also check out the other events related to the occasion here in the City of Kingston.

The annual worldwide event takes place on the last Saturday of the month of March – this year it’ll be held on the 27th from 8:30 to 9:30 in the evening. The event is a way of raising awareness on the effects of climate change on our planet’s ability to sustain the human race. In 2009, millions of homes, business, and other establishments from all corners of the globe united under one cause and turned off their non-essential lights to spread the message of climate change.

There will be plenty to see here in Kingston this Saturday. The Bee Queen’s University will be having the inaugural “Earth Hour Among the Stars”, an event to be held at the university’s observatory at Ellis Hall.

Meanwhile, the 2nd annual Kingston Unplugged event will be held at Market Square. The event will be powered entirely by solar and wind energy.

Mark your calendars and don’t forget to spread the message.
