Pitch-In Day in Kingston

If cleaning up the community sounds like something you and your family would be interested in, why not join the 9th annual Pitch-In Day here in the City of Kingston?

The event is a community clean-up day that involves local residents and organizations, all tasked to collect litter in the neighborhoods, parks, and streets of Kingston.

Volunteers are reminded that garbage bags to be used for the event are available at the different Tim Hortons outlets scattered across Kingston, and can be collected from 7 to 10 in the morning this Friday. The bags will then be taken to one of the 78 parks located through the city for pick-up later during the day, and once more on the 26th of April.

According to Bill Stewart, communications representative for the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce, the event not only turns Kingston into a greener and cleaner city, but also develops community spirit among residents. Pitch-In Day is a chance to be proud of our community, he added.

So far the response from the public has been positive, with 2096 people so far signing up for the event, with an added 64 groups promising to participate.

And while the city has already designated areas to be cleaned, everyone’s free to clean where they want, Stewart said.
