The Threepenny Opera

Threepenny opera

If you love drama, or want to enjoy and take part in a new theater experience, come to Queens University and enjoy Bertolt Brecht’s musical, told like you’ve never experienced before. The tale follows the dealings of the infamous and charismatic criminal Mac the Knife. In the days leading up to Queen Victoria’s coronation, Mac is kept on his toes through lively interactions with the Peachums (the proprietors of London’s finest rent-a-beggar shop), his pal Tiger Brown (the chief of the local constabulary), and several love-sick women.

Among a variety of questions proposed by Brecht, this production asks the audience to consider, “How can we actually connect?” To explore this question, Director Tim Fort is asking the audience to keep their smartphones and other technological devices turned ON. Instagramming, Tweeting, and Texting friends and family throughout the show will not only be allowed, it will be encouraged!

With music composed by Kurt Weill, dancing plutocrats, romantic rascals, and a tech-friendly environment, this production contains all the makings of a unique experience for everyone.
