MUSIC IN THE PARK <\/b>– Sponsored by the Elgin and Area Heritage Society – 2:00 p.m<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Red Brick School (1887) is a restored Ontario Trust-designated building.<\/p>\n

Built in 1887 to new provincial guidelines, this building (SS#5, South Crosby) features increased window space, amongst other features, intended to improve the learning atmosphere. It served Elgin village children until 1963 when, with the closure of rural S. Crosby schools, it was replaced by a larger facility.<\/p>\n

Rescued and restored by the Elgin and Area Heritage Society, its classroom provides “a living history experience” for North Leeds students and a centre for the educational archives of Rideau Lakes schools.<\/p>\n
