Watershed Discover Day – Town of Perth
14th Annual Watershed Discovery Day takes place at the Farmers Market, at Perth’s Crystal Palace, with something of interest and fun for all the family ! Bring your family – and all your questions on our water, our lakes and the programs underway to protect them – for an entertaining and informative morning for all ages.
Watershed Discovery Day provides interactive exhibits and activities on the state of our local water resources, the challenges facing them, and the programs and plans available to address them – and experts from the area agencies managing our water resources. This year’s Watershed Discovery Day will recognise the 10th Anniversary of the launch of the General Lake Management Planning Program in area watersheds with a display of lake plans, and a short ceremony, anniversary cake and photo at 11:00am.
For the Children:
This is a fun and informative morning featuring the popular Paddling Puppeteers, our educational ‘fish pond’, the Perth & District Library story corner, water critters display, and prizes for all.
Who will you meet?
Expert agencies represented include the Town of Perth, Rideau Valley Conservation Authority, Watersheds Canada, Queens University, and the Invasive Species Awareness Program of Plenty Canada and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters. Representatives will be available from our area lakes developing lake management plans.
The Friends of the Tay Watershed will present information on the Stormwater Testing Program with the Town of Perth, the Tay River Testing Program Results, Aquatic Plants Collaborative Program, Environmental Scholarship Program, the local dam projects – and more.
Sponsored by The Perth Farmers’ Market, Rideau Valley Conservation Authority, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, and the Town of Perth.
