Barndoor Productions presents : the Great Temperance Soirée

2016-07-12_131952

BarnDoor Productions presents “The Great Temperance Soiree”. An evening of harmony, comedy and sobriety by Janet Coward. PERFORMANCE DATES: July  8, 9, 10 ONLY.

This fun-filled show traces the rise and fall of the temperance movement in Perth in the 19th century.
Dull, right?  No way!

Taken directly from the pages of the Perth (Bathurst) Courier, it’s filled with laughs, surprises and a lot of music.

Join the “cold-water army” and battle for sobriety. This is not only a look at one aspect of Perth’s history, but an overview of the society that built our community.

AND, IT’S FUN!

Arrived. Experienced. Loved it! What an awesome troupe of performers. All so talented! And such a depth of material covered – all with humour, style and wit. I was just blown away by the performances. Musically one could only find this caliber at the NAC. But we are lucky – they are an integral centre of our community. Gotta love it!”  A.D. Perth

Self Help

1

Studio Theatre productions presents « Self Help ». There’s a body in the study, a detective in the hall and a nosy reporter prowling the second floor. What are stressed out, self-help gurus Cindy and Hal Savage to do? Make out behind the bar, of course. Everything about this wacky Norm Foster comedy is larger than life could ever be.

Second rate actors who are reduced to performing at a cheap dinner theatre somewhere outside of Flin Flon, Cindy and Hal are bored and discouraged. They long for that big break that will transport them to stardom. They decide to reinvent themselves as evangelists of self-awareness, a brash and brassy duo dispensing platitudes and selling their books to the emotionally and socially disadvantaged, achieving overnight success.
But what happens when there’s trouble in paradise, when Hal and Cindy lose connection with their own, now comfortable lives? That’s where playwright Foster leaps out of his usual situation comedy and into the world of the full-blown, black-hearted and very funny farce.
Tickets: $22 at The Book Nook (cash only)
Tickets Please & Shadowfax (credit cards accepted; a convenience fee applies);
$24 at the door

About the Perth Fair

The Perth and District Agricultural Society was founded in 1845. Many things have changed over the years, including the name and location of the society. One thing that has remained is the dedicated volunteer base which has supported the organization over the years.

Did you know? – The Perth and District Agricultural Society is a non-profit organization that hosts the Perth Fair on Labour Day weekend in Perth, ON. The organization is made up of hundreds of volunteers who come together to present a balance between agricultural and entertainment events.

We continue to build upon tradition while embracing the future and look to bring the best possible Fair to the Perth Fairgrounds. Have you considered volunteering? Become a member of a strong volunteer based organization. Please contact us at volunteer@perthfair.com .
