A Weekend of Pop Up Theatre

We will be hosting 10-minute plays that will be “popping up” all over town.

  • There are 9 plays at 9 outdoor locations
  • with 4 performances of each play!
  • That’s 36 chances to put a little drama in your life!
  • All for the cost of only $20 (for tickets: order online at ticketsplease.ca or call (613) 485-6434)

The 9 plays are done in 2 cycles each day: the first round starts at 10:00 am with the last play at 2:00 pm and the second round starting at 1:30 pm with the last play at 5:30 pm. All performances are within walking distance and there are many washrooms available for use throughout the town.

Starting July 1st, we will be selling the Pop Up Theatre Passport which will give you the names of the plays, actors, playwrights, & directors, the locations and secret schedule plus a map for each of the plays being performed around our scenic wee town. The Passports will be available for pick up at The Studio Theatre throughout that weekend.

If you prefer, Passport “gift certificates” will also be available for sale ($20) outside the Studio Theatre Box Office every Saturday in August from 10 am until noon. Cash, debit or credit.

You can then redeem your gift certificate on the weekend of Aug 28th to receive your official POP UP PASSPORT with all the details you’ll need.

Lynn Miles in Concert At Studio Theatre Perth

We have added a second afternoon show because of the demand! Tickets are available at:
“The music of Lynn Miles is truly one of a kind. Not only is she one of Canada’s best singer-songwriters, she’s one of the best, period. Folk music has many voices but hers is a voice that stands out, it’s a voice that knows the ways and long twisting back roads of the world, a voice that has lived and conveys that living through every song. It’s a voice we all know. ” (James Diaz of Anti-Heroin Chic ).

Maudie

presented by
Studio Theatre Perth
our movies keep getting better and better

In MAUDIE, arthritic Maud Dowley (Sally Hawkins)– who’s living in Nova Scotia with her selfish aunt — is shocked to learn that her money-loving brother has sold their family home. She answers an ad to become a housekeeper for a local fish peddler, Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke), and, after a rocky start, she starts to fit in. He lets her paint flowers and birds on the walls of his small home (where she also now lives). A customer sees the paintings and, later, asks to buy some postcards that Maud has made. This eventually leads to widespread success; even Vice President Richard Nixon buys one of Maud’s painting in the 1950s. Maud and Everett eventually decide to marry, but the extra attention being paid to Maud because of her art rankles the inarticulate Everett, causing tension in the house. But despite the many challenges they face, they discover that happiness is within their reach.

An Evening with Sherlock Holmes

Christmas Fundraiser

starring Kieran More
December 10-13, 2020
December ideally is a time of gathering around the fire, whilst outside the snow falls on the ground. It is a perfect opportunity to listen to stories being read aloud, allowing yourself to become lost in clever mysteries from bygone days.

Kieran More has tread the boards at the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, the Ottawa Little Theatre, as well as at Perth Studio Theatre in an early production of Robert Service’s Yukon Gold. Upon retiring and moving to Perth, he set about recording several Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories for long term care residents and staff to enjoy, as a way of giving back to the community in these challenging times. Having a story told to you is a priceless gift, and Kieran is a master storyteller. Now he will grace our stage for four performances only, taking on the personas of Dr. Watson, Sherlock Holmes, and numerous other colorful characters in two short stories -The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle, and The Man with the Twisted Lip.

Snuggle into one of our comfy theatre seats, wear your mask, and slip into the world of the greatest detective of all time. This fundraiser for Perth Studio Theatre is a perfect opportunity to wile a way a few hours.

In home viewing: $17.50
Tickets for live show: $20

Festival of lights and Community Tree

New this year: @Downtown Heritage Perth BIA is coordinating a new Community Christmas Tree! Community Christmas Tree. Starting on Nov. 20th the tree will be lit with over 900 lights. You are encouraged to hang your own special ornament on the tree. Special thanks to Richard Ellard and the great people at Home Hardware for donating the Christmas lights for the community tree. They were so generous that we were able to light additional trees surrounding the Community Tree.
You are invited to show your support for our wonderful frontline workers by adding an ornament to the tree. We can’t return the ornaments, but we will add your ornaments next year.
If you want to thank your special person and tell us why you are hanging an ornament, go to www.perth.ca/communitytree to leave a note. These will be shared on social media periodically.
