Garden Show Celebrates Beauty and Power of Flowers

As a way of celebration the 200th anniversary of the Old Stone Mill in Delta, the Rideau Lakes Horticultural Society or RLHS hosted a lovely ‘Flower Power’ Garden Show on the 5th of June, Saturday, showcasing a display of exquisite flowers for those who appreciate their beauty.

Boasting of over 29 exhibitions from Rideau Lakes and its surrounding areas, the show featured numerous kinds and types of potted plants, vegetables, and of course, flowers. These were on display to the public at the Delta Agricultural Hall.

Some of the flower designs came with different themes, with one in the underwater category featuring the Old Stone Mill in Delta. Local amateur and professional photographers were also busy snapping away at the lovely arrangements.

The event was graced by the presence of judges and photographers selected by the Ontario Horticultural Association, the authority on these types of activities in the province.

Bagging the top prize was Westport’s Sharon Carr, who won the most points for her creations. She was given a trophy sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion as a token of appreciation for her support and hard work.

The award for best design on the other hand was given to Terri Olivo for her creation, ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.’
