Crealdé 40th Anniversary Homecoming Exhibition Opening Reception
Crealdé-inspired artists who have taken classes here in the not too recent past and who have moved on to become exhibiting professional artists share current work and stories of how their artistic careers were influenced through experiences at the school. This exhibition is curated by Barbara Tiffany, Director, Painting & Drawing and Chair, Crealdé Gallery Committee. The opening reception Friday, June 5, coincides with the Annual Membership Meeting, from 7-7:30 p.m., followed by a reception until 9:30 p.m. The exhibition continues through August 15.

St. Augustine at 450: A Crealdé Documentary Project Opening Reception at Hannibal Square Heritage Center

The Photography Department, during a special master class, produced this exhibition of photographs and oral histories of the oldest city in the United States during its anniversary year. The exhibition examines the city’s past, its preservation efforts and its place as a tourist destination, college town and home to a diverse population. Produced and curated by documentary photographers and faculty members Peter Schreyer and Sherri Bunye. Reception 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 19. The exhibition continues through August 29.

June 26 – Crealdé Photography Guild presents Sherri Bunye in a discussion of her experiences teaching Crealdé’s Storytellers Teen Documentary Project. Join us on the last Friday of the month to share time with people that have a passion for photography. Presentations are 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Showalter Hughes Community Gallery, Crealdé School of Art, 600 St. Andrews Blvd., Winter Park, FL 32792. Crealdé’s 40th Anniversary Season

ID-10081670Join us Friday, November 7, for a special evening that starts at the main campus with a presentation on “The Life, Work and Legacy of Bill Jenkins” from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a reception from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Then make a short drive to our second campus in Hannibal Square, Winter Park, as the reception continues from 8-10 p.m., with jazz by the Per Danielsson Trio at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center.

One Place: Paul Kwilecki and Four Decades of Photographs from Decatur County, Georgia

ID-10010495Come out to Créalde School of Art on Saturday, April 12 for the exhibit of photographs by Paul Kwilecki. This exhibition of 48 framed silver prints spanning the artist’s career is on loan from the CDS. Crealdé will display the collection in two locations, at the Alice & William Jenkins Gallery at Crealdé’s main campus and at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center Visiting Exhibition Gallery in downtown Winter Park.

Purvis Young at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center

ID-10010495Purvis Young is an Urban Expressionist who paints about urban experiences and the struggles of African Americans. Young paints on  domestic items to depict scenes of life. A very provocative and influential artist of Florida, his work is on display at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center at Créalde School of Art.

The Art of Missionary Mary Proctor

Hannibal Square Heritage Center GalleryCome out during January 20 to April 21 at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center Gallery for the The Art of Missionary Mary Proctor.

Tallahassee-based Mary Proctor is a self-taught African-American artist and has exhibited her highly distinctive work nationally. Her artwork incorporates found objects into paintings and three dimensional works, largely inspired by Bible scripture and other life lessons. Curated by executive director Peter Schreyer, the exhibition includes work from Mary’s personal collection as well as from that of the Mennello Museum of American Art.

Gallery talk at 7 p.m. at adjacent Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church; opening reception 8 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, January 20.
