Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt

 

 

Roses are red, violets are blue, Valentine’s Day is here and the scavenger hunt is too! Bring your family or significant other to Mead Botanical Garden to celebrate Valentine’s Day surrounded by beautiful flowers along with playing a sweet game to bring you all together.

Lake Berry Watershed Cleanup

By: City of Winter Park Sustainability Program. Please join us as we clean-up litter in and around Lake Berry.

Groups will meet in the parking lot of Lake Baldwin Park and then be assigned to areas based upon need. Activities may include but are not limited to picking up litter in and around the lake and the surrounding roadways- stooping, kneeling, and bending. Equipment such as gloves and litter grabbers will be supplied by the City of Winter Park.

Breakfast, volunteer t-shirt, snack, and water bottle will be provided for all volunteers. Kayakers and paddleboarders are welcome. Meet at Lake Baldwin Park for distribution of supplies.

The community sponsors for this event are Rollins College and Covanta.

Please remember:
* dress appropriately, including closed-toed shoes, hats and long pants as appropriate
* water
* sunscreen
* This event is a good match for kids, teens and people 55+ group

Run for the Trees Jeannette Genius McKean Memorial 5k

Unique point to point 5k run/walk with every participant receiving a young tree. The last mile is on the tree-canopied, wilderness dirt road of Genius Drive. This privately owned glimpse of old Florida is opened to the public only once a year, for this event. All finishers receive a young tree! Event capacity is set at 1,800. Free kids run.

Discount available for youth and seniors

For safety reasons, bicycles, rollers skates, in-line skates, and dogs will be prohibited from the race course. The use of headphones is discouraged.

Stroller Restrictions

  • Stroller/jogger operators start behind designated stroller signage.
    • Stroller/jogger operators may walk/jog no faster than 15 minute per mile, a safe operating speed. If your speed goes faster than 15 minutes per mile pace, you may be disqualified.
    • Stroller/jogger operators must yield the right of way to runners. Stroller/Joggers can tip easily and cannot turn quickly. Please do not weave through packs of runners.

Funds raised from the event will support the Winter Park Tree Replacement Fund.
