1000 Islands Wine & Food Festival 2011

The 2nd annual 1000 Islands Wine & Food Festival presented by Brockville and Disctrict Tourism will be taking place on June 17 – 18, 2011 at the Brockville Memorial Centre (Magedoma Blvd., Brockville, ON). There will be local food producers, Ontario and international wineries, Ontario micro breweries, wine and cooking demonstrations, wine and food tasting, local artists and live entertainment.

There’s more to discover at this year’s Brockville Lions Club Woodworking & Gardening Show & 1000 Islands Wood Carvers Show. See many of the area’s greatest and most talented woodcarving and woodworking artisans and come talk to many of our participating gardening experts. Demonstrators will be showing off their abilities by demonstration and will be explaining their unique talents. Whether you are someone who knows a lot about woodworking and carving, or just someone who is interested to come and see this amazing display of talents, every individual is welcome to visit and see for themselves the wonders of wood carving and gardening. There will certainly be something for everyone to enjoy.

All complete with tool and equipment sales, all the many aspects of woodworking and carving demonstrations, this year’s woodcarving and woodworking show will be an ideal event to those who have interest in woodcarving, woodworking and gardening. There will be a lot of surprises in store for you. This year’s show will still be accommodating audiences from all ages. Children or adults, everyone is welcome to attend. Bring the whole family as the show includes special prizes and lucky draws. The event will have no admission fee and is totally free of any charges and will even be providing their audience with special amenities such as wheelchair accessible parking to make sure that everyone will be convenient at the event. Ethnic food from all over the world is all in one place at the Brockville & District 30th Annual Multicultural Festival. Tingle your taste buds as only the best dishes from all over the globe come to you and not only that, we also offer a non-stop enjoyable entertainment of music and dance from different cultures and traditions. Enjoy all the ethnic booths present at the event and learn all the distinct tradition and cultures of the different participants. We encourage you to bring your kids, or even the whole family to come and witness this year’s Annual Multicultural festival as the event will feature a lot of family oriented activities and programs.

The Brockville and District Multicultural Council have organized the event. This council has been founded to help conserve, sustain and stimulate all those creative expressions you can see in all cultures and folk art heritages through the involvement of the individuals with each other and through the relations of the different communities. The event will admit children under 5 years of age for free. However, the event will charge entrance fees for students, seniors and adults. For students and seniors, entrance fees are priced at $3.50 while adults are charged at $4 for entry. Prices are totally reasonable for something that you will certainly enjoy and have fun seeing. Brockville’s Feed-In Tariff Application Approved

Brockville Ontario ArenaBrockville’s Feed-In Tariff application has been approved by the Ontario Power Authority. The process is now being initiated to establish one of the largest municipally operated rooftop solar generation in Canada atop of the Brockville Memorial Centre. Over 1,200 solar panels will be installed over the summer and early fall, generating over 230 kW of energy into the Ontario Power grid. The intent is for project completion by late October/November which ultimately will generate revenues for the City of Brockville in the $200,000 range annually. Upper Canada Solar, a local solar installation firm, has completed the necessary engineering and will install the units shortly.
