2011 marks the centenary of the birth of Miss Anna Russell, one of the most celebrated comediennes in the tradition of Victor Borge PDQ Bach and Mary Lou Fallis. Anna Russell kicked off her stellar career together with Sir Ernest Macmillan in the Music Box of the Toronto Symphony which dates back to more than six decades ago. Toad, a family pet-name for Anna Russell, finds the backstage side connecting to the whole story of her life, intermingled with many of her classic routines, which includes her infamous discourse on Wagner’s Ring Cycle, wherein she performs the whole Cycle in a span of just twenty minutes.
