Great American Pie Festival Returns Once More to Celebration

The Great American Pie Festival made a successful comeback to Celebration, Florida, this year, and it looks like everyone had their fair share of treats such as chocolate custard, sweet potato, berries & nuts, and of course, the official treat of the day, pie. The 2-day event undoubtedly reaffirmed Celebration’s status as the pie capital of the world.

Hands down, the highlight of the event was the Never Ending Pie Buffet, a huge collection of pie slices coming from local, as well as regional and national bakeries, restaurants, and other food distributors. Helping to top things off was Publix and the The J.M Smucker Company, who provided loads of ice cream that allowed everyone to create their own unique pie slices.

Other great moments came from the numerous pie-eating contests and demonstrations organized by bakers and pie-lovers from Celebration and the rest of Orlando. Kids and their parents definitely had a blast at the pie creation station by Crisco, where they could actually “style” their own pies accordign to taste.

Those who take the art of baking more seriously were also treated to a baking competition where bakers from all over the country came together to come up with the best pies imaginable.

Indeed, the 2010 Great American Pie Festival was a spectacular event not just for pie-lovers, but for the whole family.
