Annual Lyndhurst Turkey Fair
The Lyndhurst Turkey is an annual event taking place in September. The Turkey Fair comes from a time in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s when Lyndhurst was an agricultural centre and in the fall there would be a day when farmers in the area would dress their poultry and bring it in to the village for sale. At that time the railway came to Lyndhurst so people would buy and would be shipping to Kingston, Montreal and Tonront. The day was about the poultry and the agricultural way of life. Of course as times have changed, there started to be fair-like attributes added. About 16 years ago a group from the community decided to build a fall fair and they used the name “The Lyndhurst Turkey Fair”.
