J.P. Cormier is coming to town to give you a musical treat you won’ t soon forget. He brings the Elliott Brothers with him, Mike on Stand Up Bass and Bill on guitar.
J.P. Cormier was born in 1969 in London, Ontario and has called Capebreton his home for many years now. He states that he learned to play guitar by listening to Chet Atkins and Doc Watson. Chet Atkins has described him as “one of the most important guitar players of his generation”.
Francie Dennison of the Port Stanley News says “When J.P. Cormier picks a guitar, it sounds the way a guitar should sound but rarely does”.
In addition to guitar, he plays fiddle, twelve string guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, drums, percussion, synthesizer and piano. He straddles many different genres, including bluegrass, folk and celtic.
He has won many awards, including 12 East Coast Music Awards and travelled the World with his amazing talent.
With his song Great Harbour Deep, he has established himself as the poet/songwriter of any small town in Canada that is experiencing the death of the small town dream – just close your eyes and substitute Athens and really listen – you will feel him speaking directly to your heart and soul.
J.P. Cormier plays to sell out crowds so get your tickets early and prepare yourself for a Huge Treat and help us raise a little money for The ALS Society.
