Thunder Bay Residents Exercise to Greet the New Year
In a move to shed the pounds and cellulite brought about by all the holiday celebrations last year, organizers in Thunder Bay recently put together a fitness-oriented event that coincided with a world record attempt, at the same encouraging residents in the area to live a healthy and active lifestyle while raising funds for a cause in the city.
The all-in-one event took place at Confederation College’s bubble, one of Thunder Bay’s biggest sports and fitness facilities. A good number of locals participated for the world workout, with each having a choice of selecting the admission fee of $20 or $50. Proceeds of the event were donated to the local chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The same music used by the workout event in Thunder Bay was also being played in more 50 events of the same kind scattered throughout the world. Exercises done by participants varied from lunges, squats, crunches, push ups, and of course, stretching.
Indeed, the event was a great way to start the year, especially for those who want health and wellness to be part of the main agenda this 2010. And while residents were busy working up a sweat, they did so by helping out a local foundation.
