59th Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival

 

 

The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival is one of the nation’s most prestigious outdoor art festivals. Each year more than 350,000 visitors enjoy the show. Festival hours are as follows: Friday, March 16, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, March 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Expect to see dazzling sculpture and glass for the big pocketbook as well as smaller works to please just about anyone. Enjoy Friday night’s jazz concert, children’s workshop village and school art exhibits, and great food and sidewalk cafes. Join us for this annual tradition in Winter Park. Please be sure to leave your dogs at home when you visit the festival as they are not allowed to enter the event. Thank you for your cooperation.

And those riding bikes can safely park it at the city’s free Bike Valet service offered on Morse Boulevard! Special thanks to the city’s Bike & Pedestrian Advisory Board members and volunteers!

Nunsense A-Men !

This hysterical musical comedy is the original Off-Broadway musical Nunsense with all of the characters portrayed by men! Think of it as “Mrs. Doubtfire enters the Convent.” The Little Sisters of Hoboken discover their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters so they put on a variety show to raise funds for their burials!

The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show.

Winter Park Sunday Running Group

 

 

 

The Winter Park Sunday Running Group has been a source of pleasant running experiences and friendships for hundreds of runners over 40 years. We encourage and welcome runners of all ages and speeds to join us on the course which offers exceptional scenery throughout Winter Park. The most popular distances range from five to ten miles, but the course easily accommodates shorter loops of three or four miles. It is our policy to ensure that people new to the group are warmly welcomed and that they do not get lost on the course.

Good Morning Winter Park is Winter Park’s live, interactive morning magazine featuring local topics ranging from politics to exploring entries in the marketplace in and around Winter Park, Florida.

Join us and hear from Audubon Center for Birds of Prey as they discuss their Water for Florida’s Future program and how it was designed to involve community leaders and businesses in saving water and energy.  

Audubon will be bringing a small bird of prey to the presentation!

Each month attracts a keynote speaker to provide a new perspective on an important community issue. Topics may include regional transportation projects, new developments, community-driven initiatives, arts and cultural organizations and conversations with community stakeholders.

Run for the Trees Jeanette Genius McKean Memorial 5k

 

Run for the Trees 5k run/walk is a unique point to point event. The last mile is on the tree-canopied, wilderness dirt road of Genius Drive. This privately owned glimpse of old Florida is opened to the public only once a year, for this event. All finishers receive a young tree! Event capacity is set at 1,800.

Zimmerman Kiser Sutcliffe Winter Park Road Race 10k and 2 Mile Presented by Florida Hospital

7th Annual Chili for Charity

Eat with extraordinary care!

 

Now in its 7th year, the Rotary Club of Winter Park has established its Chili for Charity event as the premier chili cook-off event in central Florida featuring creative chili dishes by popular restaurants and other contenders. All entries are served with a “Winter Park attitude.”

Participants compete for the coveted Peoples’ Choice award and have their dishes evaluated by a select panel of judges.

Guests also enjoy live entertainment. Drinks and a silent auction round out the evening at the Winter Park Farmers’ Market.

Net event proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Winter Park Charitable Foundation, which provides grants to more than 30 local charities each year. Over the last 20 years the club has donated more than $800,000 to charities serving the Winter Park community.

Tickets are $35 advance; 4 for $100; 2 for $125 VIP includes table service; $40 at the door.

The city’s inaugural celebration of arts & culture

 

Rediscover arts and culture in Winter Park at the city’s first “Weekend of the Arts” Friday, February 16, thru Monday, February 19. Presented by the city’s Arts & Culture Subcommittee of the Public Art Advisory Board. Be inspired with extraordinary performances, unique exhibits, and exciting events at over 20 arts organizations throughout the city. Each day features a new and exciting cultural experience.

Winter Park is the city of arts and culture, cherishing its traditional scale and charm while building a healthy and sustainable future for all generations.

It is one of the finest cities in the United States and considered by many to be the premier urban village in the sunshine state. The city is known for its Old World charm, elegant homes, quaint bricked streets, extensive tree canopy, upscale shopping and dining experiences, Rollins College and world-class arts and cultural opportunities.

The Arts & Culture subcommittee was formed as a subsection of the city’s Public Art Advisory Board that is committed to collecting, preserving and interpreting notable works of art and implementing educational opportunities concerning public art for the benefit of Winter Park residents and visitors.

The mission of the Arts & Culture Subcommittee is to enhance and improve awareness and visibility of the non-profit arts and culture organizations which offer programming to the public within the City of Winter Park limits.
