Behind the Curtain: MichLee Puppets and the Art of Puppetry

ID-10055741The  Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens is having a special exhibit about puppets and puppet mastery. Come out and experience the puppets of MichLee. Learn about the rich history of puppeteering and the intricacy involved with story telling and puppet creation.

SPREE

ID-100202352SPREE is a pop-up consignment sale benefiting children who are blind or with visual impairments. The funds from the sale will go to Lighthouse Central Florida, the area’s only private, non-profit agency offering a comprehensive range of services to people living with sight impairment in the tri-county area. The funds from the sale will specifically benefit Lighthouse CFL’s Early Intervention Program for children with visual impairments between the ages of 0-5. The sale will feature clothing and accessories for women, men, and children.

So join us the weekend of April 26-29 in raising funds for this worthy cause. Event runs from 9am-6pm each day.

22nd annual Jeannette Genius McKean “Run for the Trees”

Winter Park RacesJoin us on Saturday, April 26, 7:30am at the Showalter Field on 2525 Cady Way. In honor of National Arbor Day, the Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Winter Park will proudly host the 22nd annual Jeannette Genius McKean 5K Memorial Run for the Trees.

This exciting 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk will begin at Showalter Field, located at 2525 Cady Way, and finish on beautiful Genius Drive which is open to the public only once a year for this magnificent event. Funds raised from the event will support the Winter Park Tree Replacement Fund. Each “Run for the Trees” race participant will receive a commemorative T-shirt as well as a young tree to plant at a location of their choice.

60th annual Easter Egg Hunt

ID-10074818Come to Central Park this Saturday April 19 for the 60th Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Presented by the City of Winter Park, this fun-filled event will provide as much excitement and laughs for adults as it will for youngsters.

Children up to 10 years of age can begin lining up at 9:30 a.m. The hunt will begin promptly at 10 a.m. Children with special needs are also encouraged to join in the fun.

Over 10,000 eggs will be placed throughout Central Park. As always, children who come up empty handed will still be able to enjoy special treats at the designated candy area.
