Perth Polar Bear Plunge

Taking place on New Year’s Day, come and participate or watch the PERTH POLAR BEAR PLUNGE! Brave and crazy souls will take a dip in the icy Tay River on January 1st in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. All are welcome to pledge, donate or plunge themselves! Breakfast starts at 8am in the Legion Hall (26 Beckwith St. East) – plungers eat for free, others $10 per plate (sponsored this year by Barnabe’s Your Independent Grocer).

Safety meeting for plungers begins at 10am sharp, the Plunge starts at 10:15. Awards will be handed out in the hall at 11am. Visit the website for further details or to contact organizers

BIA Annual Santa Claus Parade

 

Please note: you do not have to pick traditional music, we welcome Wham – ‘Last Christmas’, Boney M- ‘Mary’s Boy Child , Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers – ‘The Greatest Gift of all’…have fun with your Christmas “carol” selection!

Pick a Christmas song, and decorate according to that! All participants, are strongly encouraged to play music on their floats.

Beckwith Township Christmas Craft Show

 

The Beckwith Township Christmas Craft Show will be taking place on November 24th, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Find out why this show is so popular! More than 40 exhibitors will be on hand at the Beckwith Public School gym 1523 9th Line, Beckwith. Admission is free with cash donations collected for the Lanark County Food Bank.

Winter Antique and Artisan Sale

 

Kick off your holiday shopping with us! November 18th at Carambeck Community Centre 10am-3pm. Antiques, collectibles, handmade gifts, art and decor. We have what you need to deck your halls for the holiday season and find the perfect gift for everyone on your list.

This Sunday at Carambeck Community Centre – Winter Antique & Artisan Sale.

Doors open at 10am and admission is free (although we do appreciate donations to the Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum). There will be festive music, a supervised holiday craft area for the kids (by donation to Open Doors for Lanark Children and Youth Youth Group), a canteen with morning snacks and a hot lunch (menu coming soon!) and 29 fantastic vendors offering vintage and antique items, new giftware, clothing, accessories, holiday décor and more.

Quilts in the Church

 

Saturday October 1st, 10 am – 3 pm at  Zion-Memorial United Church, 37 Franklin Street, Carleton Place. 

Admission is $5   and children 12 and under are free. Lunch is available 11 am – 1:30 pm for  $6. Many of the quilts be hand quilted.  The church is handicap accessible.

Bia Bridge Street Summer Fest

 

Calling all locals and out-of-towners! The Carleton Place Business Improvement Association (BIA) invites you to visit downtown Carleton Place to enjoy a summer community extravaganza.

 

The 12th Annual Bridge Street Bazaar will showcase the center of this colourful and historical town including a sidewalk shop with over a hundred vendors. Visitors have the opportunity to shop, enjoy some great local entertainment, and eat at waterfront pubs and restaurants.

The entire downtown section of Bridge Street will be shut off to vehicular traffic making way for a pedestrian-friendly area where both vendors and merchants alike can display and sell their products. The full-day schedule of the sidewalk sale includes various activities and attractions – including some of Carleton Place’s finest musicians mascots and dancers. This family fun event offers something for even our youngest visitors – petting zoo pony rides face painting and balloon animals are among the many activates that will delight the young and young at heart. The sound of pop rock and country will fill the air as spectators enjoy a full day of live local entertainment. Entertainment in the downtown market full of variety and best of all free of charge!

With community groups restaurants and arts programs all coming together for the day, visitors will truly be able to immerse themselves in the culture of Carleton Place – discovering all that our great town has to offer.

Carleton Place Canoe Club Regatta and 125th Celebration

 

Come out and enjoy a fun weekend of kayak and canoe racing on the banks of the Mississippi River at the Carleton Place Canoe Club Regatta. The Carleton Place Canoe Club Regatta welcomes paddlers from clubs all across the region including Rideau, North Bay, Gananoque, Ottawa River etc. Saturday features races for our U9-U17 athletes, while Sunday features races from our Masters divisions.

This year is a very special year for the Carleton Place Canoe Club – the oldest continually operating canoe club in Canada. In addition to our annual regatta, CPCC will be hosting a celebration party following the regatta in the main building.

This year promises to be even better than our annual regatta with live entertainment throughout the weekend, bouncy castle, dunk tank and a variety of on site vendors.

You definitely don’t want to miss the exciting War Canoe races! There will be a canteen and BBQ on Saturday featuring some great grub. All proceeds go to the Club! Tickets for evening celebration will be available soon! Check back on our website where we will be creating a dedicated page for the regatta and celebration. Alcoholic beverages will be available starting at 6pm. Party starts at 8pm and lasts through the evening hours!

Magic of Tyler | Carleton Place Town Hall

 

 

Join us this morning at the Carleton Place Town Hall Auditorium for “Magic with Tyler” presented by the Carleton Place Public Library. This will be a fun 35 minute program geared to children of all ages. He’ll dazzle us with tricks, and delight the audience with his stage presence. While we say ages 4 and up, you can bring along younger children if they’ll sit for the length of the program.

Tickets are on sale now at the library for $3 each—children and adults, or at the door on the day of the event for $4 each.

The Good Food Tour presents “Bites on Bridge Street “

 

 

See, hear, smell, and taste all that Carleton Place has to offer. You’ll walk along beautiful Bridge Street, stopping to sample great food and drink at six local establishments.

The Bites on Bridge Street tour is our newest tour. Carleton Place is growing by leaps and bounds and Bridge Street has developed a very vibrant and diverse restaurant scene. We’ll start at one end of Bridge Street at the Stalwart Brewing Company trying their great thirst quenching beers paired with chacuterie from the local Beckwith Butcher.

From there we will walk through beautiful downtown Carleton Place and visit some of the wonderful restaurants on Bridge Street.

We’ll meet at the Roy Brown Museum & Visitor Centre and start with East Indian delicacies at Sagar Indian Cuisine, followed by a refreshing craft beer at the Stalwart Brewing Company carefully paired with charcuterie from the Beckwith Butcher.

Next up is the Chesswood Restaurant followed by French Bistro fare of chef Ian’s choice at Black Tartan Kitchen.  We’ll have one of Petra’s dessert specialities at the well loved The Good Food Company, and finish up at the upscale Smith & Barrel Pub.

 

Cost: $65 / person + ticketing fee

The tour starts at the Roy Brown Museum and Information Centre at 170 Bridge Street, Carleton Place. Free parking is available behind the Information Centre and on nearby side streets.
