Delta Country Christmas

 

23rd Annual DELTA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS Pageant 6:30pm featuring the Deltones Community Choir. Join us for this interactive celebration of Christmas!

The evening begins at 6:30pm at Delta Baptist Church (24 King St), then a short walk to the Delta United Church (36 King St) to meet the Shepherds, on to St. Paul’s (77 King St) for King Herod and the Magi, and finally to the Mill Drive Shed (46 King St) for the Manger Scene. There will be choir anthems and carol singing amidst the Christmas story narrative with children dressed in Biblical costumes representing the key people in the Christmas story.

The Old Stone Mill presents “Christmas at the Mill”

 

The Old Stone Mill in Delta will be lit up with festive candles and open for tours from 5-8:30pm as part of Celebrating the Season. Enjoy some Christmas music by Victorian carolers. Also be sure to visit our Christmas Gift Shop in the Old Town Hall.

Lower Beverley Lake Park will be lit with over 85,000 lights and there are free wagon rides from the village to the park. Admission to the Old Stone Mill and Old Town Hall is free (donations appreciated).

Delta Harvest Festival

Delta will be celebrating the fall harvest with activities throughout the village.  The day starts at 8:00 am with a hearty Harvest Breakfast in the Old Town Hall.  This will be followed by all sorts of activities in the Old Town Hall, the Old Stone Mill, the Fairgrounds, the Fire Hall Museum and other spots in Delta with food vendors, children’s activities, music by The Run of the Mill, led by Judy Longstreet, blacksmithing demonstrations, milling demonstrations, a bread baking contest, a book sale and more.  Come to Delta and celebrate the harvest.

Doors Open Rideau Lakes

RIDEAU LAKES DOORS OPEN in DELTA featuring the Old Stone Mill, the Old Town Hall and the Blacksmith’s Shop. There will be guided tours of the mill (10 am to 4 pm) plus milling and blacksmithing demonstrations starting at 1:00 pm.

Come out, take a tour of the mill, enjoy complimentary refreshments in the Old Town Hall, watch a blacksmith ply his art and see how flour used to be made. Admission is free (donations appreciated).

Fiddlin’on the Rideau

WAC is proud to announce Fiddlin’ on the Rideau, a new amateur fiddling contest. Open to all age groups, musicians will audition and compete for cash prizes and the overall title that will be decided after the final round of competition during our popular MUSICwestport music festival.

Audition: 23 July 2016 at noon.  Westport United Church
Finals: 20 August 2016 – morning of music Westport
$10 online Registration/$15 at auditions
Cash prize for top 3 per age group: <12, 13-17, 18-59, 60+

Fiddlers must complete the registration form and read the competition rules to participate. Completed forms can be emailed, mailed or dropped off in person (see form for more details). Registration payments can be made online via PayPal or in the form a cheque. Same day auditions only if space allows.

The Old Stone Mill and the Old Town Hall in Delta will be open as part of Doors Open.

Featuring tours of the Old Stone Mill, a special Ploughman’s Lunch at the Old Town Hall (11:30 am to 1:30 pm), plus milling (Sat  Sun) and blacksmithing (Sat only) demonstrations starting at 1:00 pm.

Come out, enjoy a nice lunch, take a tour of the mill, watch a blacksmith ply his art and see how flour used to be made.

11th Annual “Celebrating the Season” 2015

You are invited to enjoy the sights and sounds of Delta’s “Celebrating the Season”

Saturdays: November 21 & 28, December 5, 12, and 19

Bundle up for an evening stroll, or wagon ride around the Park to see the trees and buildings all magically lit with over 80,000 lights!

Christmas carols will be playing throughout the park with various festive displays being lit for your pleasure.

Free wagon rides will be available throughout the park on half hour intervals between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Wagon rides will ONLY be available from the Fair Grounds at 110 Mill Creek Drive, Delta

People are encouraged to walk throughout the park to view the sites. Pedestrian parking is available from the Village Boat Launch which is located on the park entrance road.

Stop by Santa’s workshop (Cottage #1) for a visit and leave your letter for Santa. Please bring your own camera for a photo opportunity with Mr. & Mrs. Claus.

Hot Chocolate and Willard’s Donuts will be provided at Cottage #2.

Meals will be available each evening at the United Church starting at 4:00 p.m. Handicapped accessible parking will be available on Church Street.
