VIP Evening with HGTV Star, Paul LaFrance

This is an opportunity for a fun and unique night out, while honouring Society members and raising awareness about mental health issues in our community.

Styles & Smiles stands out from other events by providing dignity, community and respect for everyone involved, the same hallmarks with which we would like to see people experiencing mental health issues, be treated in the broader community.

This year the evening includes a symposium and luxury raffle, a delicious 5-course dinner, a fashion show, and entertainment by stand up comedian, Pete Zedlacher, who was born and raised in Wawa and is now doing very well on the national and international stage.

An Afternoon of Board Games and Music Fundraiser

ID-100173869Come out on Wednesday, March 26, for an afternoon of board games and live music at the LU Outpost of Community Clothing Assistance. Admission is $5 at the door and includes refreshments, 16 boardgames/puzzles to choose from, live acoustic music, and raffle draws.

The fundraiser will be running from 12pm-4:50pm. Join us for a great cause!

Tickets are $2 every half hour.

Sweet Indulgences Ladies Night 2012 – Dessert Gala and Competition

Hey ladies! The Arthritis Society is pleased to invite you to a fun and classy evening! We will be hosting a “Sweet Indulgences” evening for the ladies. This event challenges ten great caterers from around Thunder Bay to get your vote towards the title or “Best Dessert in the City”!

Event takes place at the Valhalla Inn Ballroom located at 1 Valhalla Inn Rd – Thunder Bay, Ontario on March 28, 2012. Doors open at 7:00pm, 6:30 for VIP.

Besides these great desserts there are also Fantastic auction packages as well as an awesome penny raffle table. Enjoy mini manicures, mini massages, and mini makeovers from local businesses.

Relay for Shelter Community Picnic

The Relay for Shelter is not only a fundraiser; it’s also a lot fun. The Relay for Shelter welcomes participants of all ages….you do not have to be a runner or even be athletic, just be ready for some hours of wacky activities, friendly competition and good, clean fun.

With a captain leading the way, teams of any number of colleagues, family and friends sign up and fundraise. Registration fee is $15.00 per (adult) and (children 18 & under) $10.00 which includes t-shirt, picnic lunch, along with entry to the days events. We ask each (adult) participant to raise $125.00 and children under 18 are encouraged to raise $100.00. Teams can hold car washes, BBQS, chili cook-off, 50/50 draws and other creative fundraising events, and all pledges of $10.00 or more are tax receipted. Teams can be made up of anyone who likes to have fun and who will help raise much needed $$$ & awareness about Shelter House.

On June 4th, 2011 at Chippewa Park we’re going to celebrate your efforts from 9:00 am to closing ceremonies starting at 7:00 pm with the best funfest picnic you will ever be a part of, featuring team games, sporting events, entertainment, awards, bonfire and more….

Dance For Memories

Dance for MemoriesNIGHT HOURS OF DANCING THROUGH THE DECADES! Choose your favourite Musical Decade and COME OUT AND DANCE while supporting the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay. The goal is to raise $16,000 or more! If we can get 20-30 dancers per hour raising on average $100 per dancer, we can reach our goal!

Dance For Memories Community Dance Event is very similar to a walk, run or relay event. Participants raise money by DANCING for an hour or longer. Don’t know how to dance… need to brush up on some moves? No Problem! Dance lessons, volunteer dancers and dance performances will be available throughout the day.
