This fun filled live show explores great Canadian fiddling styles from Cape Breton and Scottish to Acadian and Irish, French Canadian, Metis and Eastern European.  And with great Canadian fiddling comes great Canadian step dancing so fasten your seat belts for a heary dose of this crowd favourite.

If you love old time fiddle music, sensational step dancing, family humor, trick fiddling, inspirational stories and quality entertainment that will get your toes tapping, you won’t want to miss it!

Please join us for the 5th Thunder Bay Environmental Film Festival! There is Free admission, and great movies that explore important and current environmental topics and issues that humans are facing in Thunder Bay and around the world. These ten film sessions will address such topics as toxins and health in everyday life, resource extraction and human rights, the beauty of the boreal forest from a Finnish perspective, genetically modified food, and threats to fresh water.

The Film Festival runs from Wednesday, March 19th to Sunday, March 23rd at the Paramount Theatre, 24 South Court Street, Waterfront District.
Workshops and post-film discussions with guest experts will help us discover what we can do to make a difference right here in our community.

Wednesday March 19
7:00 pm – “The Human Scale” – A critical view on the way we build and use our cities by Andreas M. Dalsgaard.

Thursday, March 20
7:00 pm – “Defensora”, “There You Go” and “Gold Fever” – Environmental and human rights impacts of Canadian mining in the global south.

*Special Guest – Rights Action Director Grahame Russell, who is featured in Defensora and Gold Fever.

Friday, March 21
7:00 pm – “The Human Experiment” (Canadian Film Festival Premiere) – The Human Experiment lifts the veil on the shocking reality that thousands of untested chemicals are in our everyday products, our homes and inside of us.

9:30 pm – “Soylent Green” – In an overpopulated futuristic Earth, a New York police detective finds himself marked for murder by government agents when he gets too close to a bizarre state secret involving the origins of a revolutionary and needed new foodstuff. (This is a festival first, as we introduce fiction into our line-up)

Saturday, March 22
9:30 am – Workshop – “Taking Action 101”

1:00 pm – “GMO OMG” – GMO OMG explores the systematic corporate takeover and potential loss of humanity’s most precious and ancient inheritance: seeds.

3:15 pm – “Burning Water” – Visit a small town in Alberta, Canada where a farming family is living the oil and natural gas boom. Yet there’s a catch: their water can be lit on fire.

7:00 pm – “A Thirsty World” and “Mysteries of the Great Lakes” – Celebrate World Water Day and learn about local and global water issues.

9:30 pm – 5th Anniversary Celebration – Prince Arthur Waterfront Hotel and Suites.

Sunday, March 23
10:30 am – “Do the Math” – Bill McKibben and 350.org hit the road to build a movement to change the terrifying math of the climate crisis.

1:00 pm – “Hot Water” – The story of those impacted by uranium contamination that runs through our air, soil and—even more dramatically, our water.

3:15 pm – “Tale of a Forest” – A film for the whole family about the unique Finnish forest and its colourful and diverse life.
