We encourage guests to wear 1920’s costumes or dressy attire for a red-carpet event featuring a full casino and no-limit black jack tournament, live music by Performing Arts of Maitland and dancing, and fabulous speakeasy bar and food stations by Tim Webber Catering.

Woman’s Club of Winter Park Membership Tea

The Woman’s Club of Winter Park are having a tea for new members on Thursday, October 17; 6 – 8 pm at, 419 South Interlachen Ave., Winter Park, 32789.

The club welcomes new members for wine, appetizers and introductory program on the third Thursday of each month, October – April.

In addition, regular meetings with tea, sandwiches, cookies and program will take place at 2 p.m. on first, second and fourth Thursdays of each month.

For 98 years the Woman’s Club of Winter Park has been providing education and support for the community, awarding scholarships to local college students and preserving our heritage and historic house.  For more information, call 407-740-7758.

On Thursday, October 17; 8 am at the Winter Park Welcome Center,there will be another installment of CoffeeTalk. These talks provide citizens with the opportunity to talk to City of Winter Park leaders in a more causal, informal environment.

The meeting is open to the public. Coffee will be provided courtesy of Palmano’s Café, Coffee and Wine Bar.

Meet Iron Man

Ironman

Come out this Saturday, October 12; 10 a.m. – 12 pm and meet the Iron Man. He will be appearing at the Florida Blue Retail Center, 434 N. Orlando Avenue, Winter Park, 32789.

Bring the kids for an unforgettable experience. Get a free, autographed IRON MAN comic book and enjoy games, smoothies and snacks. For parents, there will be massages and a dietician available to answer questions. The event is free.

Nativity Unveiling

Neighbors Network

Neighbors Network is new initiative of the Winter Park Health Foundation to support residents over 55 who want to age in their homes, but may need help from their friends – and neighbors.

These informational gatherings are held the second Friday of each month and are free to attend.

Sex and Sensibility: The Allure of Art Nouveau Screening

This October 11, 18 & 25; 12 pm at the Morse Museum of American Art there will be a special screening of Sex and Sensibility at the Jeannette G. and Hugh F. McKean Pavilion, 161 West Canton Avenue, Winter Park, 32789.

The museum will have a free screening of the three-part BBC film documentary which examines the regional distinctions and ideologies of the Art Nouveau style.

Learn about Paris on October 11; British cities, October 18; and Vienna, October 25. Those attending are invited to bring a lunch. The museum provides soft drinks and refreshments related to the film subjects. Admission is free. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

The Center for Lifelong Learning will offer a new professional program: the paralegal studies certificate.

The Rollins Paralegal Studies Certificate is a six-month, noncredit program during which students will explore the comprehensive skills required of a paralegal professional, including investigating complex fact patterns, researching the law, and preparing cases for courtroom litigation.

The inaugural paralegal studies certificate cohort will begin November 5, 2013, and meetsTuesday and Thursday evenings through May 8, 2014.
