National Good Neighbor Day

30

Each year on September 28, neighbors across the United States celebrate National Good Neighbor Day.

This day was created to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of a good neighbor.

In honor of that day and all of the GREAT neighbors right here in Celebration, Town Hall will say ‘thanks’ in their own way. Our Celebration neighbors are invited to stop by outside Town Hall on Wednesday, September 28 for a complimentary hot dog and a heartfelt thank you.

Members of Town Hall will be distributing hot dogs (appropriate condiments will also be available) between 3:30 – 6 p.m., or while supplies last.

Good neighbors often become friends, they watch out for each other, lend a helping hand and are there for advice when asked.   Neighbors are there when we need to borrow something, to get our mail for us when we are on vacation, to watch our homes and sometimes to watch our children and our pets as well as the many other things we do with our neighbors.

To celebrate National Good Neighbor Day, do something nice for your neighbor today. Use #NationalGoodNeighborDay to post on social media.

There are vendors selling all sorts of wares, from food to crafts to baked goods.

The market offers vendors selling produce, vegetables, clothes, accessories, and products produced and distributed by local business owners.

Mother’s day – May 8

2

A popular day for gifts of flowers and greeting cards.

Many Canadians celebrate Mother’s Day by showing their appreciation for mothers or mother figures. The Mother’s Day date in Canada is on the second Sunday of May each year.

What Do People Do?

Many people in Canada express their gratitude towards mothers and mother figures on Mother’s Day. It is the time for people to thank mothers and mother figures who took the time care for them and help them through life’s challenges.

Carnations are a popular Mother’s Day symbol in both Canada and the United States. Some people may choose to wear a carnation as a brooch on Mother’s Day. However, other flowers are also given to mothers or mother figures to symbolize one’s love and appreciation for them.
