Sure, these shows aren’t set in the same time periods – but they all share something in common: jaw-dropping fashion, breath-taking interiors, stunning gardens, and food and drink that’s to die for. That’s exactly what you’ll experience this fall at the Perth Museum.

Gather your crew, turn off Netflix, and get ready for an afternoon that will transport you back in time – where you’re not just watching history, you’re living it.

We’re throwing an 1840s housewarming party, inspired by a real chapter from the Matheson family history. Annabella Russell, Roderick Matheson’s second wife, will be your host, welcoming you into their actual house for a one-of-a-kind experience.

Wondering what a housewarming in 1840 looked like?

Think Bridgerton game night vibes, minus the scandal.

Kick things off by meeting the house staff, who’ll show you the behind-the-scenes prep for this grand event – and spill the juiciest about how Annabella and Roderick came to be.

Next, you’ll step into character. Head upstairs, where a selection of 1840s attire awaits. Pick your look and get ready for your close-up in front of the original Drawing Room fireplace, with period music setting the perfect scene.

Sip on a custom old-fashioned mocktail and play a period party game that’s sure to have you in stitches.

And then, it’s tea time! Gather around the dining room table in your period-perfect outfits, just like Annabella’s guests would have done. As you enjoy your tea, you’ll get a glimpse into Mrs. Matheson’s life – past and present.

In Cooking Connections participants learn and connect in a peer-facilitated series of workshops focused on overcoming the stigma of living with mental health challenges, while learning basic cooking skills and sharing meals together. Participants co-create a safe and inclusive space for sharing and strategizing how to move forward in their wellness journey. 

Good nutrition is a key part of every wellness strategy, and especially so for those with mental health challenges. Cooking and sharing a meal provides opportunities for hands-on learning about food and mental health while creating an informal and cohesive dynamic with the participants, peer facilitators, staff and volunteers. The program is being offered in Perth in cooperation with Loving Spoonful with financial support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Providence Care and Queen’s University were key partners in the creation of the program and also support our delivery of the program in Perth.

Cooking Connections is a mental health program, with the goals of coming together in a socially inclusive environment to:

• learn basic cooking skills,
• share a meal,
• engage in guided workshops called Overcoming Stigma

The program will be at The Table, 190 Gore St. E., Perth. Transportation supports available.

Next sessions starts Tuesday, Oct. 22.

• 3 hours per week for 8 weeks
• Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Branch 244 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Perth takes immense pride in hosting the town’s annual Remembrance Day Ceremony, a solemn tribute to our veterans. This meaningful ceremony unfolds at the Cenotaph at 33 Drummond Street West, just before the Perth Hospital, at 10:45am.

Please note that, out of respect for this important occasion, the section of Drummond Street West will be temporarily closed. To ensure a smooth experience, we kindly request that spectators find alternative parking arrangements and make a brief walk to the site. Detour signs ill be strategically placed to guide you.
