Studio Theatre Perth presents « Hamish »

Picture

In rehearsal for Studio Theatre’s production of Hamish. (L-R): Dana Ruprecht, Mark Daley, Jerry Logan, Alan Humphreys.

Studio Theatre Perth does a Highland fling into Spring with the lively comedy, “Hamish.”
Family history comes alive when Kelli plans a trip, for she and her husband Gordon to visit his ancestral home in Scotland. Neither is prepared when they discover a “haunted” past they never knew existed, and the strong ties that bind them to a legacy of family and true love.
Award-winning playwright Michael Grant has written a modern Scots-Canadian legend that’s sure to entertain and beguile. Rival clans, kilts, and a motley Highland crew bring heartwarming hilarity to a play that brims with Scottish wit and spirit. In the words of director Sheila Jasiak, “Hamish is a love story, not between a man and a woman, but between family… knowing that you can’t go ahead in life without really knowing where you came from.”
Hamish runs from April 4th – 14th. Evening shows: 7:30 pm. Sunday matinees: 2:00 pm. Advance tickets are $24 at Tickets Please in the Matheson House Museum Visitor Centre and at the Studio Theatre on show nights. Student discount available with ID. DAVID OLNEY: Listening Room Series

David Olney

Sunday, March 31st, at 7pm sees Nashville treasure, singer/sonwriter DAVID OLNEY, return to the Perth Tea Room (Perth Restaurant) for a LISTENING ROOM SERIES show, this time raising funds for His House – Perth’s Helping Hub.

We welcome Onley’s return as his shows always sell-out, which isn’t surprising considering his pedigree – having Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Del McCoury, Slaid Cleaves, Wailin’ Jennys all record his music. David will be promoting his latest album entitled “This Side Or The Other,” produced by Juno Award winning Steve Dawson. David Olney is a perfect fit for our series. His natural humbleness and love of sharing the depths of his soul to those who hang on every word as our crowd do makes it a great match. Brock Zeman and his sidekick Blair Michael Hogan will open for him. Tickets are $20 and available by calling Sue at 613-267-7902.

Tickets are $2.

The Maltese Falcon at Barndoor Productions

Maltese Falcon poster

a new play based on
Dashiell Hammett’s famous novel

Sam Spade is a womanizing, down-on-his-luck private eye, going nowhere fast — until a dangerous young woman walks into his life — and his partner is murdered.

The quintessential “hard-boiled detective” story, The Maltese Falcon is known around the world — but this new stage adaptation brings even more excitement and mystery to the story.

Almost word-for-word from Hammett’s novel, it’s a trip down film noir alley — for the stage!

NARRATOR/GUTMAN – Chris Erdos
SAM SPADE – Garrett Pipher
EFFIE PERINE – Karen Bernique
BRIGID O’SHAUGHNESSY – Keegan Carr
MILES ARCHER, LT. DUNDY, Freed, Bryan – Don MacKay
