Art Works! Perth Studio Tour

Art Works! Perth is an organization of creative artists working in, and close to, the heritage town of Perth, Ontario. The group was founded to provide a network for rural artists to come together to talk, learn, develop ideas and provide opportunities for other artists and community members to become involved in the visual arts in the Perth area.

The heritage character of Perth has attracted a significant number of artists, actors, and craftspeople to Lanark County, which in turn draws visitors from all over Ontario to a variety of cultural events throughout the year. Art Works! Perth wants this to grow, consolidating Perth’s reputation as a cultural destination and hub in the region.

Visitors to Perth can already browse shops, boutiques and galleries, go to the theatre, listen to live music, and check out crafts people at the local Saturday market. And now, Art Works! Perth wants to provide residents and visitors with an opportunity to meet the people who make art in Perth and to see some of them at work!

The founding group of 11 artists has invited guest artists to join them, in order to offer visitors a wider range of art forms and styles. All of the artists are keen to share with visitors their love of art, information about their chosen medium and what their studio space looks like.

List of Psychic Readers and Natural Health & Wellness Venders..

Readings by George Bishop, Life Coach at Buddha Bear Wellness Offering: This offering for a reading is for that serious person who would like to really change their lives with insight and guidance. It is a multi-layered approach and begins with:
1) Handwriting analysis-this shows traits that may have been aiding you in life and those that may have been holding you back. Handwriting maps out how you operate in the world and uses more of brain’s centres than any other activity. As such it presents an “EEG” of how people behave in the world and lends valuable insight to making progress.

2) Divination Tools Begins with Runes from the ancient Norse to provide an outline/overview of the situation and the challenges with the suggestion of possible outcomes.

3) Sacred Path and Medicine Cards from Jamie Sams provide keys to becoming aware of medicine allies and totems you might use to assist you in these changes.

4) Angel cards from Doreen Virtue and Sonia Choquette are used to garner support from this realm for higher guidance

5) Dream analysis maybe also included if the client has questions from this plane of awareness and time allows.

6) Tarot may be used if there are any remaining questions
Sessions are one hour and cost $80. He also has 20 minute readings at $1 a minute.

Who is George Bishop? His origins were guided by nature as he began his career path in a rural setting with agriculture and the out of doors lifestyle. This lead him to a deep appreciation of being in touch with his surroundings. Though raised in a traditional religious background that encompassed native spirituality, Protestantism, and Catholicism his time in nature he has been long interested in this notion of tapping into higher guidance outside of traditional religion. This connection to higher guidance was especially true after a near death experience early in life that inspired him to live a life of purpose on purpose.
He was employed for 25 years in the mental health field, licensed in both mental health and addictions and forensics helping people to come across the “veil” of old beliefs. He left the field to become a Life Coach after realizing the pitfalls of modern psychology practice.

Lisa Daily ~Psychic medium who is able to channel messages from both humans and animals. For animal readings please bring a picture with you. Crystal healing sessions to clear out the old stagnant energies which have been weighting you down.

Perth Citizens’ Band Concert – 1st Summer Pops Concert

A series of Summer Pops Concerts at the Perth Legion that continues on throughout the summer!

All concerts are FREE to the public and are held in historic Stewart Park just behind the Perth Town Hall.
Bring along a lawn chair or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll through the park.

The Perth Citizens’ Band has been an integral part of the musical and cultural heritage of the Town of Perth since 1852 and is the oldest continuously operating band in Canada. The continuity of the band from 1852 has been recorded in a book entitled, “ Sound the Trumpet “ written by local archivist, Daphne Overhill, published in 2002.

The band is comprised of members from Perth and surrounding areas of Lanark County. Every Tuesday night at 7:30 the band meets for rehearsal in a specially designated room upstairs in the Perth Town Hall. A wide variety of music is rehearsed from the bands’ extensive library, ranging from classics by Mozart, Handel etc. through the Gay Nineties, The Swing Era, the Beetles, Broadway, and contemporary works. Band membership is about 50 and includes all ages from teens to seniors with skill levels from beginners to professional. Some members also contribute time to other local groups such as the “Saints and Sinners” , The Perth Community Choir, and The Last Duel Brass Quintet. The band is directed by Brian Tackaberry, a professional high school music teacher.

The free concerts in Stewart Park are performed every other Thursday at 7:30 PM starting in the second week of June through the third week of August and include a Strawberry Social starting at 7 PM for the second concert. The band does a number of parades throughout the year including the Perth Fair Parade, parades for various local celebrations in other towns and typically four Santa Claus Parades in various towns. A major part of the bands funding for operating expenses comes from these parades. The band also does an annual Christmas concert, an annual “ Last Night At The Proms Concert ” plus a number of other concerts during each year.
