Rideau Lakes Studio and Garden Tour

FlowerOne of the longest running tours in Eastern Ontario, The Rideau Lakes Studio and Garden Tour continues to attract new artists while maintaining a core of favorites with collectors.

Located in the heart of the Rideau Lakes district concentrated around the villages of Portland, Philipsville and Chaffey’s Locks, the 2014 tour will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 4th, 5th and 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

At some studios you will meet surprise guest artists who are unadvertised but are invited by their hosts. The goal is to have more than one artist at each stop to make your tour experience more enjoyable. You will find paintings, candles, quilts, pottery, cast stone sculptures, weaving and woodworking for your home and garden.

Lace Up 4 Marsha

ceThe Lace Up 4 Marsha Walk-a-thon is a fundraiser for Marsha Thake who requires a living donor liver transplant. Marsha grew up in Westport and her family and friends are asking for your help to raise money that will support Martha and her donor through the transplant process. Not all parts of the transplant process are covered by O.H.I.P. and Martha needs your help and support in this time of need.

Lace Up 4 Marsha is a walk/run/bike event for teams or individuals. It starts at the Westport Legion and heads into the Village via Hwy 42. The entire course is a 4 mile block around the Village of Westport. Afterward participants return to the Legion for a barbeque and entertainment. This is a family oriented event, so sign your family and friends up today.

The entrance fee is $15 per person. If teams and individuals choose to collect pledges they can. For those who raise $100 or more the entrance fee is waved. You can download all the forms from the Lace Up 4 Marsha website.

For more information visit Donor for Marsha at Facebook, while you’re there “like” us and “share” with your friends. For complete walkathon information visit laceup4 Marsha.com. So please be generous and come and walk/run/bike with us this coming August 9.

As of today Martha is still searching for a liver donor. For more information about the liver transplant process see the Canadian Liver Foundation website.
