MILLING DEMONSTRATION – the millwheels will be turning, starting at 1 pm, grinding heritage Red Fife wheat into flour. Come out and see how high quality flour is made.

 

Tuesday, June 9

DELTA MILL SOCIETY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. A business meeting will be held at 7:00 pm followed by a coffee house and social time in the Old Town Hall featuring Sir John A. and Lady Agnes Macdonald (expertly portrayed by Brian and Renee Porter) who will regale us with stories about our first Prime Minister. All are welcome to attend.

    • Saturday, May 9 – A MOTHER’S DAY VICTORIAN TEA will be held on Saturday in the Old Town Hall from 2 pm to 4 pm. The tea will feature watercress and egg salad sandwiches, scones with butter, jam & cream, Empire cookies, Richmond Maid of Honour Tarts, Lemon Squares, Banbury Tarts, Fruit Cake, Tea, milk, sugar, lemon.     • Saturday, May 16 – SEASON OPENING OLD STONE MILL – Old Stone Mill opens for the season – 10 am to 5 pm daily

 

    • Saturday & Sunday, May 23-24 – MILLING DEMONSTRATION – the millwheels will be turning in the mill, starting at 1 pm, grinding heritage Red Fife wheat into flour. Come out and see how high quality flour is made.

 

    • Saturday & Sunday, May 23-24 – BROCKVILLE DOORS OPEN – featuring tours of the Old Stone Mill, a Ploughman’s Lunch at the Old Town Hall (11:00 am to 2:00 pm), plus milling and blacksmithing demonstrations starting at 1:00 pm. The Ploughman’s Lunch will feature Stone Mill Bread, Homemade Chutney and other delectables for only $8.00. Come out, enjoy a nice lunch, take a tour of the mill, watch a blacksmith ply his art and see how flour used to be made.

The Old Stone Mill

The Delta Mill is celebrating its final grind of the year October 12 with Thanks Giving at the Mill. Enjoy the silent auction, book sale, bake sale, blacksmithing demonstrations, and much more.

Summer Events at the Old Stone Mill

 

This summer there will be exciting events at the Old Stone Mill as we celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremnoy at the newly renovated Town Hall, Friday, July 19th, 2013 at 11am. There will be special appearances by guests: Steve Clark, MPP; Betsy Heately, OTF representative and Ron Holman, Mayor of Rideau Lakes Township. Come down and experience the transformation of this great heritage building. All renovations were supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

 

From June 24-August 24 there will be a bilingual exhibit of the Canadian Flour Industry with historical links of flour’s past in France to flour’s present in Canada. Admission is free, so come on down and enjoy a trip through time with the Mill River and Flour Exhibit at the Mill.

Doors Open Brockville and Thousand Islands

The Old Stone Mill will be hosting the Doors Open Brockville and Thousand Islands on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26 from 10 am to 4 pm. This free event is an incredible opportunity to experience and celebrate the local heritage. Guests can take guided or self-guided tours of 37 sites in Athens, Brockville, Caintown, Delta, Escott, Lansdowne, Lyndhurst, Rockport, Lyn, Mallorytown, Maitland, and Prescott. Maps will be available at all participating locations. This year, there will be an Art Show and Sale sponsored by the Delta Mill Society. This will provide guests with the unique chance to meet local artists and purchase their artwork. Don’t miss out on the culture of Ontario!

Brockville & 1000 Islands Doors Open May 26-27

The Old Stone Mill located in Delta Ontario will be a part of the Brockville and 1000 Islands Doors Open event taking place May 26-27, 2012. Some other local Rideau Lakes locations participating are: Green Gecko (Lyndhurst), Lyndhurst Historic Bridge, Township of Athens and Area Heritage Museum, Wendy’s Country Market (Lyndhurst), Wiltse Pioneer Cemetery (Athens), and Wing’s Live Bait & Tackle (Lyndhurst).

Rideau Lakes

Every year, Doors Open Ontario attracts large crowds across Ontario. From April to October, residents and visitors are invited to discover first-hand Ontario’s hidden heritage treasures, some of which have never been open to the public.

Thanksgiving at the Old Stone Mill

The Fall Thanksgiving Celebration at the Delta Old Stone Mill will be taking place on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from 9am – 4 pm and Sunday, October 9 from 10 am – 4 pm. Sale of home baking, preserves, local produce, crafts, refreshments and historical demonstrations. Make your own rope, shell an ear of corn or watch the blacksmith at work and pick up some freshly ground flour!
