We endured a tragic fire on the evening of Fri.Jan.18.2019 at the Fredenburgh Guest House across the street from the Main Inn. Thanksfully, no one was hurt but The Fredenburgh House is closed indefinitely. We continue to be open for business as usual in the Main Inn where our restaurant and bar, live music venue AND nine remaining rooms are located. If you already have reservations in the Fredenburgh House, we will be contacting you to re-locate you at a close-by location as soon as we can. Either way, we have been inundated with generous notes of support over the past week. John is a singer/songwriter/entertainer from the Kemptville, Ontario area. He has been playing and writing music for the last 25 years and can play a number of different instruments. John is known around the area as a bass guitarist and, as well as performing his solo acoustic show, is currently playing with the band Buckledown and a duet called The Standby Brothers.

John has played with bands such as The Campfire Boys, URBAN – a tribute to Keith Urban, The Andi G. Band, Jeff Callery & Runaway Train and has opened up for artists such as Blue Rodeo, Alannah Myles, Trooper, Colin James, Michelle Wright and many more!

By huge popular demand, TURPIN’S TRAIL (Kingston/Perth Road Village, East Coast/Folk/Celtic) is back to perform for New Year’s Eve! Turpin’s Trail is the Kingston-based quintet of Chris Murphy, Jon McLurg, Brian Flynn and Noal St.Amand. Having played concerts and festivals across Ontario, Turpin’s Trail has shared the stage with artists such as Murray McLauchlan, J.P. Cormier, and Leahy. Tight harmonies and acoustic instrumental accompaniment (guitar, mandolin, banjo, Irish Bouzouki, ukulele, Bodhran) bring out the beauty and energy in their original songs and their creative interpretations of songs drawn from Celtic, folk, bluegrass, and popular music genres. Amalgamating gorgeous folklore and traditional celtic with east coast song, naturally, they are HUGE fan favourites in the Westport area and a great celebration band for New Year’s Eve!

Ottawa’s ace swamp roots-rockers MonkeyJunk — fêting 10 triumphant years together in 2018 — are preparing to lift lids from Saskatoon to Sault Ste Marie, Thunder Bay to Nanaimo, as they hit the highway supporting their scorching, career-best Time To Roll album. Audiences will be dazzled.

Winner of 2018’s Blues Album of the Year Juno Award (their second overall), the latest and fifth release from singer/guitarist and harp player Steve Marriner, drummer Matt Sobb, and guitarist Tony D is precisely the kind of corker you’d expect from a trio of musical veterans who, between them, have boosted luminaries from Fabulous Thunderbird Kim Wilson to Buddy Guy, the late Jeff Healey to the lamented Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Launched in Ottawa in 2008, MonkeyJunk —handle inspired by delta blues great Son House, who once intoned, “I’m talking about the blues, I ain’t talking ’bout no monkeyjunk!” — have consistently updated contemporary blues with a blistering mix of chops, soul, grit, humour and harmony.

When we say this band is full of Allstars we ain’t kiddin’! 5 members from Canada’s legendary Downchild Blues Band – Chuck Jackson (vocals), Michael Fonfara (keyboards), Pat Carey (sax), Gary Kendall (bass) & Mike Fitzpatrick (drums) plus Teddy Leonard on guitar (formerly with Fathead). Both of these bands have received multiple Juno Awards over the years and all of members have either won or been nominated for an MBA in their respective instrument categories. Together they represent almost 300 years of Blues-playing experience and it shows. Led by dynamic singer/showman/front man Chuck Jackson these guys mix it up with their unique renditions of old Blues/Soul and R&B classics along with original songs. This marks The Hoggies 5th return visit to BOTR making them another one of the all time favourites of the Series. The most commonly used adjective to describe this band on the Comment Cards is “AWESOME!”
