The Winter Park Playhouse jumps into the Fall with this smash Off-Broadway hit!

Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Thursday and Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. and select Wednesday, Friday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. The preview performance is Thursday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m.

Loaded with popular, hit songs from the 1950’s and 60’s, this musical comedy created by Roger Bean, is set at Springfield High’s Senior Prom in 1958 where we meet four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! As we learn about their lives and loves, this fun-loving show treats you to all the beloved popular songs from the 50s and 60s. Take a musical trip down memory lane with hits such as “Lollipop,” “It’s My Party,” “ Dream Lover,” “You Don’t Own Me” and many more!

The Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Winter Park and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission present their annual free Test the Waters Fishing Tournament.

Children of all ages are invited to participate in this fun-filled event.

Bait, fishing poles and snacks will be provided for all participants.

The city’s Parks & Recreation Department also guarantees that everyone will take home a fish!

Park Avenue Fashion Week is a seven-day celebration of the local fashion retail and design community. For complete list of trunk shows, designer meet-and-greets, details on the Runway Show and tickets, visit www.parkavenuefashionweek.com

Each year, PAFW seeks out designers, design students and fashion aficionados to apply for the Emerging Designer Contest. This annual competition recognizes up-and-coming talent and challenges designers to a series of tasks to determine one winner that is announced the night of the main runway show.

Contestants will be asked to submit an application and sketches of their work, once chosen to compete in the Emerging Designer Competition, showcase three of their designs to an elite panel of judges followed with a Project Runway inspired challenge. Five semi-finalists will be announced at the Emerging Designer Fashion Show, then they will have to feature their Project Runway inspired challenge at the main runway show on October 17th. The winner will receive a month’s worth of showcasing in a PAFW boutique accompanied by a trunk show and professional photographs of their looks featured on the runway.

This free, popular CoffeeTalk series gives the community an opportunity to sit down and talk with the Mayor, City Commissioners, City Manager and Department Directors over a cup of coffee provided by Barnie’s Coffee Kitchen.

CoffeeTalk provides a more informal setting to share ideas, concerns and thoughts with city leaders.

Bring your school, faith group, dog, kids, friends, non-profit organization or business for a heart-healthy walk through beautiful Maitland. The community groups with the most walkers WIN CASH – and individuals or businesses can WIN GREAT PRIZES too!

The event starts with a 7:30 a.m. breakfast registration and the walk begins at 8:30 a.m. After the walk is complete, festivities will continue with kids activities, the best DJ in Orlando, and appearances by Bo Outlaw and the Magic Dancers.

This event is FREE to the public, but advance registration is requested.
