5th Annual Marathon and half marathon

Registration for the 2018 Town of Celebration Marathon and Half Marathon is now open. The fifth annual race is scheduled for Sunday, January 28.

The Top Ten Reasons to Run the Town of Celebration Marathon & Half Marathon:

  • The Course – Run through one of America’s prettiest neighborhoods (as selected by Forbes Magazine) on what may be the flattest course you will ever run!  The course is certified with USATF, so it is a Boston qualifier.  In 2017 nearly 20% of our marathon runners qualified for Boston.
  • The Shirts & Medals – Tech shirts by Raw Threads featuring innovative bamboo technology and really cool medals for all finishers.
  • Post Race – We know any great race is enhanced when the post race goes beyond “here’s your bagel and banana”.  Our post race will feature food and beverages from area restaurants.  And not just for the early finishers, but for all participants.
  • The Cause – Our goal is to raise a minimum of $50,000 in order to fund scholarships for high school seniors across Osceola County.  An all volunteer organization gives us a great chance at meeting this goal… and your participation will make it happen!  In just four years the race has donated $229,000 to the Osceola Education Foundation and $120,000 to local non-profit clubs, teams, and organizations.
  • Low Entry Fee – Race fees can be pretty outrageous.  You’ll find our race fees to be fair while the race quality and value will be excellent!
  • Smaller is Better – We’ve run the big races, and they are an experience, but we love the smaller races.  Logistics are easier for participants and you will find race organizers are able to give more personal attention  to the racers.
  • Location – The Town of Celebration is located five minutes from Disney World and twenty minutes from the Orlando International Airport with easy highway access.
  • Florida in January – With an average high temperature for the date of 71 degrees and an average low of 48 degrees we have an excellent chance for great running weather.  And for our northern friends, those temps probably look pretty good!
  • Pace Teams – Meeting your race time goal can be a challenge, so we will have Marathon Pacing there to help make it happen.
  • All the Other Kids Are Doing It – Admit it, you used that excuse a time or two while growing up.  Let’s use it again.  Invite your friends to come along and experience what a great small race is all about.  Don’t forget to like us on Facebook!

Alfa Romeo Car Show 2017

Annual car show is presented by the Mid Florida Alfa Romeo Owners Club and features cars from all over Florida. Saturday, November 4, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Market Street in Celebration.

Dustin Hoffman immortalized the beauty and freedom of the Alfa Romeo “boat tail” Spider in the 1967 Oscar winning film, The Graduate, and from then on Americans fell in love with affordable, fun to drive Italian sports cars. Pininfarina, designer of the gorgeous Ferrari 250 GT, designed the Alfa Romeo Spider and the Fiat 124 Spider. Recently Alfa Romeo introduced their new supercar the 4C Coupe and this year Fiat introduces a new Fiat 124 built in cooperation with Mazda.

So if you love vintage Italian cars don’t miss Viva Alfa Romeo Car Show 2017. Head to Market Street, in the heart of downtown Celebration, Florida, on Saturday, November 4th when from 10 am until 3 pm the street will be filled with vintage Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia classic cars such as: the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato GT 1300, Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce, Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, Fiat 124 Spider, Fiat 128, Fiat 850 Familiare, Lancia Monte Carlo Series, Lancia Fulvia Coupé and many more.

The annual car show is presented by the Mid-Florida Alfa Romeo Owners Club and features cars from all over Florida. Visitors can speak with owners and get up close and personal with vintage sports cars. And of course downtown Celebration also offers lots of great places to eat or just enjoy a coffee or ice cream. Alfa Romeo and Fiats left an imprint for many who grew up during the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties and today they are affordable collectible Italian sports cars. So if you’re the proud owner of an Alfa Romeo, Fiat or Lancia enter your car in the show or if you’re a car enthusiast bring the family and enjoy a day filled with vintage Italian sports cars at a wonderful location.

Happy Labour Day!

Labour Day (Labor Day in the United States) is an annual holiday to celebrate the achievements of workers. For most countries, Labour Day is synonymous with, or linked with, International Workers’ Day, which occurs on 1 May.
In Canada and the United States, Labour Day is celebrated on the first Monday of September and considered the unofficial end of summer, with summer vacations ending and students returning to school around then.

The form for the celebration of Labor Day was outlined in the first proposal for the holiday: A street parade to exhibit to the public “the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations”, followed by a festival for the workers and their friends and families. This became the pattern for Labor Day celebrations. Speeches by prominent men and women were introduced later, as more emphasis was placed upon the civil significance of the holiday. Still later, by a resolution of the American Federation of Labor convention of 1909, the Sunday preceding Labor Day was adopted as Labor Sunday and dedicated to the spiritual and educational aspects of the Labor movement.

Labor Day is called the “unofficial end of summer” because it marks the end of the cultural summer season. Many take their two-week vacations during the two weeks ending Labor Day weekend. Many fall activities, such as school and sports begin about this time.

Good Neighbor day

Town Hall to recognize National Good Neighbor Day

Each year on September 28, neighbors across the United States celebrate National Good Neighbor Day. This day was created to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of a good neighbor.

In honor of that day and all of the GREAT neighbors right here in Celebration, Town Hall will say ‘thanks’ in their own way. Our Celebration neighbors are invited to stop by outside Town Hall on Thursday, September 28 for a complimentary hot dog and a heartfelt thank you. Members of Town Hall will be distributing hot dogs (appropriate condiments will also be available) between 3:30 – 6 p.m., or while supplies last.

Good neighbors often become friends, they watch out for each other, lend a helping hand and are there for advice when asked.   Neighbors are there when we need to borrow something, to get our mail for us when we are on vacation, to watch our homes and sometimes to watch our children and our pets as well as the many other things we do with our neighbors.

To celebrate National Good Neighbor Day, do something nice for your neighbor today. Use #NationalGoodNeighborDay to post on social media.
