Blind Date (Firehall Theatre from July 1 – 26)

BlindDate-web

“I was thinking, I don’t know…maybe one of you would be my blind date?”

Live theatre doesn’t get any livelier than this!

Mimi has been stood up by her blind date, but why let the night fall to ruin when there are so many handsome audience members?! Each night, she invites a willing gentleman for a spontaneous rendezvous on stage. The result is witty, sexy and different every time!

BLIND DATE is a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants fusion of clown, improvisation, and theatrical experiment that you’ll want to see again and again. After sold out runs in London and New York, we are delighted that Mimi is coming to the Firehall Stage. You will be too!

“Irresistible, cheeky and charming.”

FREE PLAYREADINGS

firehallcropThe 1000 Islands Playhouse is having a free reading of Siberian Summer on December 4 at 7:30pm and of Lore on December 6 at 7:30pm.

Siberian Summer is written by Playwrights’ Unit member Paul Van Dyck
Join us for the first public reading of works created in our Playwrights’ Unit, led by professional directors and performed by professional actors!

Siberian Summer chronicles the adventures of three retired small-town Ontario women who decide to take a vacation on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Based on an actual trip the playwright took in 2008 with his mother and her friends, this whimsical comedy examines the often humorous and sometimes poignant cultural differences between nationalities and generations.

Lore is written by Playwrights’ Unit members Jodi Essery and Attila Clemann
Join us for the first public reading of works created in our Playwrights’ Unit, led by professional directors and performed by professional actors!

Lore is a duet. A young girl prays that her dead mother be returned to her. Instead, an emaciated 7-foot-tall Viking falls from the sky. Our young heroine must open herself up to an unexpected and uninvited stranger who does not speak her language, and lives by none of the rules of her everyday world. Together they will rage, defy, laugh, eat, struggle, become lost, fail, hold on, and step into a blizzard of not knowing in an effort to return the Viking from whence he came.

Come to the Firehall Theatre and enjoy the wit and culture of Siberian Summer and Lore.
