Newboro Winter Carnival

ID-10010787On February 8, 2014 Newboro Ontario is holding a winter carnival. All the fun kicks off at 11am, be sure to come and enjoy some winter fun! Whether you’re enjoying the outdoor activities at the ball park or the indoor ones be sure to stick around for the fireworks at night!

Skate the Lake

speed skatingJanuary 25-26 2014 the annual Skate the Lake speed skating contest will take place in Portland, Ontario. Join in the fun by coming and cheering for the skaters or participate and skate to win! Brought to you by the North American Marathon Speed Skating Championship in Portland there are a  number of races to participate in from 5km to 50km. Skate around the giant oval track and compete to win.

Seeley’s Bay Frost Fest

Mark your calendar for the weekend of February 7, 8, and 9, 2014. There is so much to do you’ll have to stay the whole weekend! Spend the weekend keeping warm with one of our many activities, there is something for everyone so come on down to Seeley’s Bay.

There will be craft displays, rides, activities for the kids, hockey, fun in the park, dances, volleyball tournament, and more!

Portland Legion Spaghetti Dinner

Come to the Portland Legion (Branch 231) for a fundraiser spaghetti dinner this Friday, November 22.
Doors open from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Cost of dinner is $7.00.

The Portland Legion is located on  2314 Harlem Road Portland.

Half the proceeds go towards March of Dimes.

Scott Woods Country Christmas

Join us on November 29 at Grace United Church for a fantastic Christmas performance by Canada’s renowned fiddler, Scott Woods.

Known as ‘The Flippin’ Fiddler’ for his energy and performance stunts, this concert is too good to be missed!  The Scott Woods Band will perform a two-hour concert featuring old time fiddle & country music, seasonal songs, inspirational stories, sensational step dancing, trick fiddling and more. This seasonal show is sure to be fast paced and an uplifting delight to audiences of all ages.

The 13 year-old step dancing sensation Amanda MacInnis and Guitar Virtuoso Steve Piticco are scheduled to make a  special appearance as well.  The Scott Woods Band travels across Canada each year performing up to 150 concerts, almost all of which help to support churches, charities and other community groups.

Sick Kids Benefit Dance

The Fabulous BelAirs and ART Audio have generously donated their time & services towards a Benefit Dance at the Toledo Legion.

In support of Kael – Age 6, who requires a Bone Marrow Transplant before his health deteriorates and his brother Eamon – Age 4, who is the donor. Surgery is tentatively scheduled for late October at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.

From your local branch of the library comes, the book club. Each branch of the Rideau Lakes Library System has a book club and are open for new members. The library provides 60 book club sets, you may obtain your choices through the interlibrary loan.

183rd Annual Delta Fair from July 25 – 28

Get ready to celebrate at the Delta Fair, as the entertainment is all set. Bring the whole family to make great memories at this incredible fair.
