Financial Wellness Workshop

Celebration West Osceola Library  Come out to the Celebration West Osceola Library located at 305 Campus Street, Kissimmee FL 34747 for the Financial Wellness Workshop on August 8, 2013 from 6:30-8pm.

Workshop will provide solutions to common financial challenges faced by individuals, families and small businesses including the different savings accounts needed, retirement strategies, debt elimination and compound interest and how it helps your money grow.

Dine with friends in the open at one of Celebrations premiere food trucks. Seating is limited, so bring lawn chairs with you in case seats fill up quickly.

The truck line up includes: Nifty Fifty, Curbside Chef, Cheesecake Phactory, Fat Daddy’s BBQ, Posh Nosh, Chill’n Grill’n, Monsta Lobsta, Louis’ Bistro, Wild, Kona Dog, Yum Yum Cupcake, and Sweet City Gelato.

The 2013 Summer Sidewalk Sale will be extra special.  Alongside the treasure hunt and special sales, this year’s special feature is the stars of the small screen. Participants from some of televisions reality programs such as Big Brother, Survivor, The Amazing Race and more, will be in  attendance and signing autographs.

The Sidewalk sale runs from Friday, August 2 to Sunday August 4. To participate in the treasure hunt pick up a copy of the map from Town Center restaurants to navigate around town and solve puzzles. The winner of the treasure hunt will receive $500 worth of cash and prizes. Autograph proceeds benefit the Give Kid’s the World Village.

 

August 3, from 3-6pm features the open autograph signing session, a $20 donation is appreciated, all donators will be given a commemorative booklet. Followed by a Luau party at 10pm in Town Tavern.

August 4 is the last day to hand in the treasure hunt maps and solved puzzles.

A Sci-Fi 4th of July in Celebration, Florida

Want to see fireworks that are high quality like those at Walt Disney World without having to pay high prices? The town of Celebration, near Walt Disney World, hosts an incredible 4th of July celebration that is free to guests. But, this year the Celebration Town Center will be celebrating the 4th of July like never before! They are partnering with MegaCon to celebrate in a whole new and exciting way. This will be one of the very best celebrations in all of Central Florida and you won’t want to miss it! The traditional 4th of July fireworks will have an interesting twist this year, as they will be synchronized to Sci-Fi themed music. This memorable fireworks display will be kicked off with a costume contest. Dress up as your favorite Sci-Fi character or Super Hero and have a chance to win great prizes.

Oliver’s Queen, Jordyn Kane, DJ Tami, Gina Marie Incandela, and The Dixieland Jazz Band will provide live music that kids and adults of all ages will enjoy. As always, there will be bounce houses, a tribute to our veterans, inflatable games, face painting, and much more.

Parking and admission are FREE and a free park and ride shuttle will be available from 215 Celebration Place. The shuttle service will start at 5 pm, as the event starts at 5:30 pm. Bring the whole family out to enjoy the whole evening in Celebration, Florida. This year will definitely be one that you won’t want to miss!

Great American Pie Festival 2013 In Celebration FL

The 2013 American Pie Council Great American Pie Festival sponsored by Crisco returns to Celebration Florida on April 27-28, 2013.

Did you know that America has a pie heritage? We do, and you can help preserve it with the pie buffet that has no end. There will also be a pie eating contest, baking competition and cooking demonstrations.

The Baker’s Square Pietopia stage with live music and entertainment, games and much more. Saturday, April 27, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 28, noon to 5 p.m. For more look for the American Pie Council on Facebook or call 407.566.1200.

The Kissimmee Blue Skies & Silver Spurs Festival is four festivals rolled into one with something for everyone to enjoy!

The Kissimmee Blue Skies & Silver Spurs Festival takes place May 31 – Jun 2, 2013 at the Silver Spurs Arena (1875 Silver Spur Lane, Kissimmee, Florida).

Below are the 4 main events taking place:

Blue Skies Balloon Festival – A glorious early morning hot air balloon launch will take your breath away. But there’s no need to watch from the ground when you can enjoy the sights from above by taking a hot air balloon ride.

Blue Skies Adventure Race – While the balloons are floating above, there’s a challenge below with an adventure race. Test your endurance by competing in a 5 mile rodeo themed adventure race.

Endless Summer Songwriters Festival brought to you by Share a Little Sunshine – You know that song. You’ve heard it before. But, you haven’t heard it sung by the person who wrote it. Songwriters and their bands will perform top country songs on the open stage, under the blue skies at Osceola Heritage Park.

Silver Spurs Rodeo – Enjoy the excitement of real cowboys, bulls, broncos, and horses as they compete for top prizes.

Osceola Connected Hosts Meal Packing Event

Osceola Connected, a coalition of organizations with an aim to help children in need in Osceola County, in collaboration with Feeding Children Everywhere is packaging 250,000 healthy meals to feed the hungry in Osceola County. Osceola Connected is hosting a Meal Packing Event on May 4 and 5, 2013 and is calling for volunteers and donors.

 

To get involved, here are the venues for the Meal Packing Event:
May 4 – St. Cloud Civic Center and Kissimmee Civic Center
May 5 – Celebration Town Hall and Florida Hospital Celebration Health

For donations, one meal is equal to $0.25. If you donate more, you can provide more meals for the children and families.
