FATHER’S DAY BBQ DINNER JUNE 12, 2015

Bring your dad, spouse or any special man in your life out to Stonefields for a delicious BBQ to celebrate Father’s Day on June 12th, catered by The Mixing Bowl and in support of the Lanark County Food Bank.

Doors open at 4:30pm with dinner beginning at 5pm, and entertainment until 9pm.

The evening will be filled with great food, live music, and a fun excuse to come out to the farm with your family! Tickets are on sale now and must be purchased in advance:

$45 + HST for adults

$22.50 + HST for children 7-12,

children 6 and under – FREE

PERTH FARMERS’ MARKET at the CRYSTAL PALACE + TAY BASIN

The PERTH FARMERS’ MARKET takes place in the Crystal Palace and Tay Basin, every Saturday morning between Mother’s Day weekend and Thanksgiving weekend.

The Market runs from 8am to 1pm and offers a wide range of local, organic and handmade products, including but not limited to: fruits and vegetables in season, herbs, potted plants and cut flowers, honey, maple syrup, garlic, mushrooms, eggs, meat (freezer orders), ready made food items from the Piggin’ Out Market Cafe (such as sausage on a bun, cinnamon buns, lemonade, iced tea, fresh brewed coffee, scones and cookies, to name a few).

Music and other entertainment is offered from time to time. Come meet your friends and neighbours, check out your local farmers and buy local! Come for the freshness, stay for the fun.

The Perth Civitan Club host a regular Blood Donor Clinic every second month.

Club members work as volunteers to support  the collection by Canadian Blood Services.

The volunteers create a welcoming and comfortable experience for blood donors, interacting with donors and staff to provide a positive experience for donors.

Those who have never given blood before, may be nervous. First time ambassadors are on hand to answer questions and provide the extra comfort needed for first time donors.

A Mother’s Day Concert at MERA featuring Triola

Mother’s Day, May 10th will see the MERA Schoolhouse in McDonald’s Corners filled with music for grandmothers, mothers, wives and others, played by Triola, an exciting classical music trio, comprised of mothers and grandmothers.

 

Clean Up Day 2015

Wednesday, May 6th from 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Every year a large group of volunteers comes out and helps to clean up the yard after the winter, raking, planting, painting if necessary. Bring your rakes and gloves and energy!

We provide pizza at about 5:30 – courtesy of John Parks – and a few people bring a dessert to share which is much appreciated.

 

Arts and Crafts for Home Schooled children

Third Tuesday mormings of April, May and June, 2015

9 a.m. until 12 noon

Some parents of area home-schooled children have requested that MERA organize a  program for children, about Grade two level and up, to learn some of the things MERA does so well: weaving, knitting, spinning, pottery, basketry, bead work, etc.  The third Tuesday of the month from 9 a.m. until 12 noon has been set aside for creative activities for home-schooled kids.

Movies Under the Stars

PerthJoin us for free outdoor movie screenings on June 26. Movies are shown by the Rideau Canal in beautiful Centennial Park (under the Smiths Falls Water Tower). Bring the family and a blanket or a lawn chair and spend your summer evening watching a family-friendly movie on the big inflatable screen.

Come early to find a good spot and enjoy activities prior to the start of each screening. Snacks, drinks and other treats will also be available for purchase before and during the show in support of various community partners and organizations.

Presented by Together Smiths Falls (TSF). TSF is a Community Enhancement Association that helps to create a better community through events and projects that enhance the quality of life in Smiths Falls by encouraging community involvement and volunteerism in collaboration with local business, Not for Profit and Charitable organizations.

Canada Day at Conlon Farm

Perth Citizen’s Band’s Strawberry Social and Summer Concert Series

ID-10061849THE PERTH CITIZENS’ BAND will once again provide a SUMMER CONCERT SERIES in theBANDSHELL every second Thursday during the summer: June 12 + 26, July 10 + 24, August 7 + 21. Concert starts at 7pm, bring a lawn chair and/or a picnic supper! Enjoy the serenity of Stewart Park while you listen to Canada’s Oldest Town Band perform in the historic bandshell! Please Note: Thursday, June 26th will be the date of the ROTARY STRAWBERRY SOCIAL in conjunction with the Band Concert. A nominal fee will get you cake, fresh strawberries, ice cream and lemonade! This social starts at 6pm, and is a long-standing tradition in Perth! A great night of music and treats for the whole family. Please remember that Mill Street is under construction and will be closed to traffic and parking.
