Lake Baldwin Watershed Cleanup

20Keep Winter Park Beautiful works with neighborhoods and volunteers throughout the community on public green space projects, organizing environmental cleanups, and other projects related to enhancing the ecological, economical and social sustainability throughout the city.

Please join us as we clean-up litter in and around Lake Baldwin. Breakfast, volunteer t-shirt, snack, and water bottle will be provided for all volunteers. Kayakers and paddleboarders are welcome. Supplies will be provided.

On May 28, 1993, the City of Winter Park’s Keep Winter Park Beautiful (KWPB) program was recognized as an official affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. City residents who shared a passion for maintaining and enhancing the quality of the city’s built and natural environment came together by creating the city’s Keep Winter Park Beautiful Advisory Board. Throughout the years, the board has worked with neighborhoods and volunteers throughout the community on public green space enhancement projects, organizing environmental cleanups, and increasing recycling throughout the city.

With a recent commitment to sustainability, KWPB has repositioned itself with the city’s Sustainability Program to continue to beautify the city while also considering its long term impact on natural resources including water, energy and waste.

In the summer of 2012, the KWPB Advisory Board merged with the city’s Environmental Review Board to create the Keep Winter Park Beautiful & Sustainable Advisory Board. While the new board is still committed to the original mission of preserving and enhancing the community’s beauty, it is also the city’s lead advocate for promoting the environmental, economic and social sustainability of Winter Park. The original KWPB programs are still intact to this day with an increased emphasis on native landscaping, community gardening and green infrastructure.

The community sponsors for this event are Rollins College and Covanta.

The mission of Keep Winter Park Beautiful is to improve the quality, sustainability and aesthetics of our environment in order to create a healthier, more beautiful place to live, work and play.

be integrated into conceptual designs to be presented to the residents and
City Commission.

spaces. Also facilitating will be Dr. Norman Jacknis of Columbia

styles and characteristics work best with Winter Park’s unique
architectural character and vision for a new 21st century library and
civic center facility.
